intimidation saves and anticipation close outs(making decisions based off of body language) are real they just don't get talked about because they don't go on the spreadsheet report. to play devils advocate you could say watching your near post first from an angled attacker could be considered an intimidation save too

The ball also travels less distance if it’s being struck at the near post compared to the far post and the ball will travel across your body at one point during it’s trajectory if the ball is being struck at the far post but that’ll never be the case if being struck at the near post. It’s so silly lmfao

I was always annoyed when watching football and (for example) the striker doesn't hit the goal in a 1v1 with the keeper and the commentator saying that if it was in it would have been a goal or that the striker did a mistake by not hitting the goal. Another example is when there is a shot from like 10m with really good power and placed near post the commentator saying that the gk could have done better
@michaelstein75102 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think commentators often forget how little time that really is for a goalkeeper to react, even with ideal positioning. Having played both GK and forward myself, I appreciate how difficult it is to save a well-placed shot. Sometimes, there’s nothing the GK can really do besides force the shooting angles to be as difficult as possible and hope he misses. I would often blast it near post when playing as a forward, because that’s sometimes a more difficult save for a goalkeeper to make than if I tried to curl it to the back post. A hard shot near-post leaves the goalkeeper little time to react, even if it’s a tighter window.
@valentinazmi88582 ай бұрын
it really annoys me when commentators are talking about goalkeepers when they have no clue about the position. This is a great example of that with the near post, I also find that they also say a lot that the striker has a really nice shot even when the keeper saves it but doesn't credit the keeper.. or they don't mention their name. Like if they save a really nice shot they win the interaction why don't they always get the credit then

I actually played academy for a certain big BL team for a bit, also GK, and it took me like 2 seconds on one of his highlights to see that he isnt a pro, id say he isnt even particularly good. Anyone with a camera and a semi good production set up could produce the same level of highlight videos.

Wait a second... At year 2 of my non-professional games I had enough technique to stand up quickly and enough experience to scream at my defenders to clear up the ball being myself ready for anything if they will fail (and often they will). How this guy who trains way more than I did back then and who should have thousands of friendly and training matches behind his belt not be experienced enough for that?! I find the argument 'he has not enough experience in matches' for the goalkeeper he positions himself to be absolutely inexcusable and not relevant. If he is who he says he is, he have to have that amount of experience. You don't just train and not play training, friendly, amateur league matches. Don't you? Otherwise, how do you expect to be signed by professional clubs without any real GK experience?

Mike lies about many things, but the Neuer message is very clearly real. I've stood over footballers (Jose Reyes RIP was very difficult, could barely speak english at the time let alone promote golf vacations) and musicians doing similar before while working in marketing roles, and if you read the full german text Mike sent, it's very a clearly a 'My glove sponsors told me to send you a pair and a good wishes message because you are getting a lot of hits on german youtube' type message rather than him reaching out to Mike completely out of the blue.

I don’t think you messed up. Content creators each have their own “sell”. The most successful GKs on KZbin aren’t pro players (Ben Foster excluded) and couldn’t be due to the time it takes to be a pro (and content creator). That said, I do think the algorithm has moved massively in the click-bait direction as informative / instructional videos now get a 10th of the audience they used to 😢 Several grassroots GK have made a success of go-pro in the goal, which surprises me since I find it hard to take away any secrets of success from such a limited viewing angle. Keep going with the great uploads!

It's not that time intensive to be a pro player lmao. You're not spending more than 4 hours at training a day and mostly travel a couple of days at most. There are countless content creators who work 9-5 or more and can still easily make content

I'm glad this video showed up on my feed because man do you lose track of many of the smaller channels when you're subscribed to so many people. I remember you having some level-headed, direct and honest opinions. Nothing over the top, overly positive, overly negative - just balance. It's the same as I remember, nice. Given the content of KZbin, if you would like to promote football and goalkeeping to the younger audience, I believe that you would at least need to go to a pitch and show some drills. Best if you could have some children/teenagers with you. Kids are used to teachers, kids are used to other kids so that familiarity would definitely help. I've seen some academies of sorts in Poland where I live where a skillful "coach"? teaches kids/teenagers how to dribble, use skills. I am not sure whether it is professional, but definitely some activity. Something that makes you grow on the side or for kids who aspire to join professional academies. I am not saying to kidnap kids from your neighbours, but there are definitely ways to create a small school of goalkeeping and how to create videos based on that. On the other hand having this reaction type of content, especially discussions, monologues. That's more for the likes of me and I appreciate your videos. I'll never be a goalkeeper, too old and fat anyway, but I was always very passionate about football so hearing more in depth in a conversation like style about football and its secrets, sounds great. Just may not be that popular. I'm glad that you have over 8k subcribers, you deserve that. Regarding Modern Goalkeeper, the cycle of views continues, good for you and GkGoluremi. It's just funny how this guy attacks GKGoluremi specifcally trying to undermine his credentials. Given that he is only a social media content creator, not a pro keeper, fuck me that's some ego and irony ^^. It sounds like a slip on his side to be honest because he tries to maintain this positive, honest personality, but he didn't keep his composure and attacked. A massive liar and egoist.

7:30 The reason Goulremi is so mad with mike isint because hes bad in goal, he even says hes solid later in the video, but he says hes a professional which would mean he would have to have that experience to know not to cheat to one side. The context you’re missing is that Mike brags he’s a pro. He brags he’s getting all these contract offers and giving out advice like he’s a pro. He’s making amateur mistakes and calling himself a pro. If you critique him as a pro it’s hilarious how bad he is. If you critique him as an amateur, he’s got a good baseline athletically though he is out of shape. The thing is, as a I mentioned in the first bit, he is not a pro. He should be judged as a weirdo talking a big game when it’s obvious he’s only doing it to pretend to be relevant in his social media online bubble.

Have to disagree on the inexperience whre he was accused to be "lazy". If you are not playing at a pro level, you are well aware that your defender with the ball inside your box is often more dangerous than than the enemy :D I never played at a super high level, and I know that if my teammates are with the ball inside the box not trying to kick it away, I should be ready for what's coming
