This video has honestly helped me through the scariest experience of my life! I’m 35 and am 4 days post scleral buckle - my recovery has pretty much mirrored your experience and it was such a huge reassurance to be prepared and know it wasn’t going to be as uncomfortable or painful as I first thought. Thank you so much for sharing your journey! It put me so much more at ease when I was up the wall with anxiety pre op ❤️🩹

2800 a month on rent for a 1 bedroom. Ouch!!! I pay 1100 for a 1 bedroom (1 indoor parking space + 1 in unit storage room) 8 blocks away from the Parliament buildings in Ottawa. Although your place looks bigger.

WHAT WAS THE SYMPTOMS OF RETINAL DETACHMENT
@niskamelchionne194216 күн бұрын
I had a horseshoe retinitier and they did laser surgery on my right eye . if there were the laser surgery he said that you would see a little dim out that one eye for a few minutes and then it would go away and fade and it did . only asked for a couple of seconds . after the laser surgery for one or two days I felt like there was something in my eye like some seeing or something like that but not it just felt like when you have an eyelash in your eye . I put a cold rag on my right eye for about 2 or 3 days that feeling of having an eyelash in your eye or something in your eye subsided in 1 to 2 days . I didn't have any swelling or anything like that and I wasn't in pain afterwards when I went back home . After the surgery when I went in the waiting room the doctor said that you would feel like you would have a headache and that was about it and then when I went home that's decided I just went to go lay down for the rest of the day and I got up and felt like a little bit better no headache at all that went away it just felt like there was like a little speck in my eye . but as I said I put a cold wash rag on my right eye and within a few days that feeling went away . and the doctor just didn't tell me anything like ain't no dues or nonsense or anything like that he just said go about your normal life just don't go scuba diving or swimming but other than that I was okay

When do all the redness go away? I’m four months post surgery but my eye still have a little redness. It always looks like it’s a little irritated. It doesn’t hurt. I’m seeing ok out of it. There may be fluid still under there. But my concern is that It’s not completely white like it used to be. So how long did it take for your eye to become completely white again?

Oh man... I really need to tighten my own budget. You only spent $3K? Im in Vancouver and average just over $14K/mo
@guitarpicker746421 күн бұрын
So , if she split everything with her friend and still spent 3K, that means 6K / mo for a couple. 72K *after taxes* with zero money put away for savings or vacations etc. The median household income in Toronto after taxes is $65,500 that's for the entire household ! All this increase in costs has happened since 2016. During that time, food packages shrunk, housing skyrocketed and wages stagnated.

how long did it take for your eyelid to go back to normal? I was told I would have to wait 3-6 months for the eyelid to fully try to resolve on its own or if it doesn't, its then that I can ptosis surgery to lift the eyelid..
@SuperOnedimpleАй бұрын
I am recovering from this just now. I am 3 weeks post-op.. I hated the first week as i had to sit and sleep in that weird position because the surgeon had to place a gas bubble in it the following day.. I still have a wonky eyelid, you did not have that 2 weeks post op..so cool. I am 36 and I stilll do not know what caused it because i never had any eye injury or there was no trauma to my eye. I will only stick to my being near sightedness as the cause of it because that is the only one that makes sense.

@SuperOnedimple29 күн бұрын
@@tolgaismail hi.. my vision has gotten a bit better. I have noticed the the gas bubble is getting smaller. It still covers part of my eye but its not as bad as when he put it in. My eyelid looks like its getting back to normal, though not yet fully there. redness is almost all gone, just a few patches. Not painful anymore.. Just tapering off my steroid now. And ho are you doing? what position were you told to be sitting in and for how long?

Just coming over this video now as I am due to have a vitrectomy surgery in 3 months time due to diabetic complications I was given the option of knocked out to sleep or just a local anaeshetic I choose the local as I hate being put to sleep, I also made the biggest mistake by watching a KZbin video of how they do the procedure 😂 I'm so nervous yet I know I have no choice but seeing how upbeat you where has gave me some hope 😊

Your sharing is so very kind! My friend is near 3 months on her silicone oil buckle, and is concerned how to know best the retina is healed so the silicone should be removed. (And there’s a danger of leaving it in too long?). That surgery is hundreds of miles away, and she doesn’t want to go the distance only to hear she’s not ready. Can you help? How do we learn up, on that?

I had the Scleral buckle surgery 3 years ago at 68 years old. I had 20/20 vision still...so I was very concerned. I also had the silicone oil. The surgery was not painful at all, nor was the recovery...except having to keep my head down for the first 7 days. That sucked. Six months later the oil had to be removed. That was considered somewhat risky...because the inside fof the eyeball needs to be rinsed. Afterwards, retina surgery often causes cataracts...clouding of the lense. I had cataract surgery as a follow up procedure (easy peasy to say the least). Three years later I have 02/20 vision...except I still have some distortion, crystal clear but wavy lines in the repaired eye. Scar tissue on my macula is the reason according to my surgeon. Not sure that will ever be remedied. Glad to have my vision though.

I also had the surgery. I had a torn retina and had emergency surgery about 3 weeks ago. I'm getting better. They say it should take 10 to 12 weeks.
