My favourite bit in this episode is at the funeral, where when Garth/Rick is shooting the reanimated body, it cuts to Richard's character Dean shooting the shotgun, but when it cuts back the the grave, he's standing in the background with his hands in his pockets! 😂

Good spot on Garth looking like Friedkin, as that was apparently the look they were going for with the hair, glasses, and leather jacket (he's sort of a cross between Friedkin and British horror author Shaun Hutson).

For years, I hated this due to being forced to listen to it on repeat in a French appartement with insufficient alcohol. Only recently have my teeth stopped clenching enough to appreciate it.

100%. Samurai films were the first Japanese movies I saw of that era, and they’re amazing, but there’s so much more to see. Hell even just from Kurosawa. I love his samurai films so much but nothing to me beats Ikiru

Sending you a hug for this naff day. ❤ Seven Sins really resonates with me. Similar health issues and it articulates it so well. Thank you for speaking so compassionately on your sister's experience of chronic illness. I wish my sister had taken the time to understand that you so obviously have. It's the kindest and most loving thing someone can do for anyone with chronic ill health. 🫂
@Filmfinds1443
@Filmfinds1443 23 сағат бұрын
I’ll be the first to admit it took time for me to understand. I always worried about my sister and felt bad for her, but sometimes my anxiety when it came to rejection would get in the way and I would think she just didn’t like me or was being mean when she never wanted to do anything. Finally it clicked one day and all of our plans would become flexible and I would constantly resure her that even if she needed to cancel last second of in the car to an event, it was ok and I would make sure there was an out to anything we did. That way she would feel freer to maybe try doing something if she knew she wasn’t trapped. Plus with my mom she started showing signs of fibro (and didn’t get a diagnosis for like a decade) when I was 6 and I was a trash child, so I know I wasn’t always compassionate to “mom doesn’t feel good”. All I can do now is try to make their lives easy when I’m able to.

I think this was the last song on the Sick Boi album to be written. It was originally meant to be just a short introduction, but it turned into a full, epic song. Sick Boi is the second track. I think you're thinking of the 27 club. Have you heard Ren's remix of Venbee's song Gutter? Also the Big Push's song All My Heroes? They are both relevant to that idea. Love your rambles btw. I usually learn something new.

This was meant to be the intro to the album, but grew into a complete song. This, Money Game 3 and the end of Suicide were written in '23. The other songs were already at least a year or two old by then. (It's the 27 club) Thanks for the reaction! Hope you feel better soon.

I'll say... you're the first reactor I've seen pick up on the color scheme thing. Her best video after "Casual" is probably "My Kink is Karma", although musically there are several other contenders for best.

I’d like to mention the abundance of product placements her earlier videos had. It was severely annoying but it was a thing for music vids in the 2000’s.

In addition to Red Wine Super Nova and Kaleidoscope (which is such a beautifully written song), check out My Kink is Karma as well as California. California was written in the spring of 2020 right before Atlantic Records dropped her and of course during COVID, it was a real low point for her and it is wonderful that she has skyrocketed in popularity. Another video which I am not sure you will like is Naked in Manhattan, it was written before she had her first lesbian experience and was said to be her fantasizing about it.

Especially since the Karma video especially is an incredibly shot video (Red Wine Suoernova Magician's cut is good too, but My Kink is Karma's video is a bigger artistic statement).

I feel that ultimately, Ren will have to settle with making a difference in a not-insignificant amount of lives, not the wholesale structural and cultural changes thst he hopes for. In other words, he's not as bitter and cynical ss i am!

I really enjoyed your review. This is my favorite Chappell song and video that I’ve watched a ton of times and your analysis made me see things I hadn’t noticed before like the changing of her clothes colors and the inherent danger of a casual relationship played into the real danger of her being a siren. I highly recommend listening to all of her songs but as for videos Red Wine Supernova and My Kink Is Karma are the best after this one. Also, like someone else said, if you want to react to other current videos the trilogy of Espresso, Please Please Please and Taste by Sabrina Carpenter would be great to see you react to if you haven’t already seen them.

I would recommend Red Wine Supernova, or Good Luck Babe as those are her biggest hits and both really fun (and gay), I personally enjoy California by her. If you want songs by other artists, Taste by Sabrina Carpenter might be a good choice especially since the music video has sapphic undertones and murder as well.
