004 - Battletech news from Pax Unplugged, 2023

2024 is going to be an amazing year for Battletech with so many new things coming out. CGL is going to be releasing new stuff every quarter for all of 2024.

A few corrections. Its Victor Steiner-Davion's Dire Wolf (Prometheus). Hanse was his father, he piloted a Battlemaster. The Hammerhead in the Striker Star is a Hammerhead 2 this was specifically mentioned. Also to note, that was not a Chinese prepainted, that was panted up by one of Randall N Bills friends so not really telling us anything about how good/bad the prepaints are actually going to be. Personally I think the prepainted was a silly idea they should not have acted on. The people who wants prepainted would want more the one, so why not give them a whole pack of say IS Command Lance that's painted then see if there is an actual demand for prepainted minis.

I missed the kickstarter. Will the mercenary box set be available for retail?

The official fulfillment date is June 2024 however, there has been unofficial talk of a release date sometime in March if things go well. So if things are “on schedule“ you’re probably looking at July however, if we’re lucky April at the earliest for in-store purchase.

@@michaelmcdonald148 Oh yes. It's going to be a full retail box, like AGoAC and the Clan Invasion. You'll be able to pick up the Mercenary box from your FLGS, Amazon, Ares Miniatures, etc. The KS will have an "exclusive" box, but that's just the outside. The contents will be the same.

What version of the Kintaro will we be getting a mini of? I want the Kintaro-20 used by the Combine and Comstar or at least the Succession Wars era Kintaro-18 used by the Federated Suns. I really don't want a mini of the NARC equipped Kintaro fielded by the SLDF.

Im all for a clan jade falcon themed pack, maybe one or two classics, but theres alot post clan invasion like gyrfalcon and shrike that id love to see and play with

I'm not sure how many more Clan 'Mechs they have to put out in plastic. I'd like to see some Clan Specific star packs, especially for the Invading Clans, but we'll see. I think any future faction packs will probably be based on how these packs sell. Thanks for watching!

I just hope we get Force Manuals for smaller InnerSphere states like FRR ( later Ghost Bear Dominion then Rasalhague Dominion in the end ) and periphery states like Aurigan Coalition introduced in Battletech the pc game. Yeah I love the "underdogs" I know the FRR used a mix of mechs from D.C and Lyrans but would be great to have a official CLEAR sum up of what they used, FRR history, paint schemes, culture.. the whole package. Wishes from a pre-space Scandinavian. Skål! 🍺

I hope they get to those, but I suspect the Force Manuals will start with the Big Guys - namely the Great Houses, and depending on reaction and sales, they might move on to others. We'll see - my crystal ball has been in the shop for - well most of my life ! Thanks for watching.

I consider myself newer to Battletech. It’s been about a year but I’ve only bought and painted mechs and played a handful of times. The fluff books scream yes please because the rulebook is “yeah just do what you want” and while most of my models are painted off basic vanilla military color schemes it will be cool to see some expected or normal stuff for creating thematic events. I’m also excited for the ilClan stuff because it’s an easy starting point for reading. I’ve read just Redemption Rites and look forward to reading more

I'm still irritated about that pre-painted Orion. It's not Kerensky's mech. They identify it as Kerensky's, but it's not outfitted right. Kerensky's replaces the AC/10 with a gauss rifle and the LRM-15 with a snub nose PPC.

Zero interest in a prepainted mini. It's not a bad paintjob and I still might get it (just because you can never have too many Orions), but it's going straight in the Dettol bath.

I dont think the prepainted models will annoy me.. just strip and repaint or paint over it if i dont like it..I like the new mechs being used an i think moving forward is good.. though I would prefer going back in time and adding more industrial mechs, i know thats not where most want to go and that it cant be a longerm direction.

I picked up the Star League command lance (review coming out soon) and the Orion isn't bad. It's actually pretty good. Not a selling point for me, but I'm not upset about it. I'm not sure if they are going to push the industrial 'Mechs, I'm actually more interested in them with more IlClan era stuff. Thanks for watching!

I kinda wish they would have gone with the house boxes they mentioned a while back. Instead we get these Star League Boxes with a single painted mini for a price mark up. It just feels.... Bad.
