My Sensei is a 7th Dan Blackbelt, and to say he is fast is an understatement; yet he only describes himself as average compared to his Senseis ... Kaecyy 48 seconds ago (edited) As a Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto-ryu practitioner, because I dig this I thought I should point out that at about 1:40 and continuing at 1:55 after some other stuff later you can see the real way to draw a long sword from your back- the sheath has to be pulled too, and the way I know how to do it you have to first undo the strap and detach the whole thing from your back to free the saya to pull down. I can't see how these guys are doing it but it looks like there might be two different techniques going on that I'm not aware of. But it looks like they managed to do it right. Then again, there's a reason they put the cut where they did I would assume. Normally drawing a long sword from the back is one of the biggest loads of bull you see in depictions of the sword in general, and in fantasy in particular. Seriously people- try it for yourselves. It's safer and easier to draw from the hip; from the back even when you do it right it seems to me that you expose yourself for an awkward and dangerous moment as these two gentleman did. That's probably why they cut it there. But these guys did have a good reason for the swords being on their back, so kudos all around for surprising authenticity. Another thing I'd like to praise is the ninja uniforms. They're not wearing the kabuki costumes; these uniforms look practical. They don't need to hide their identity so they don't impede their breathing with a mask. They wear gray and not black because that hides you even better in the dark. This scene is surprisingly not as ridiculous as it looks, and all the more awesome for it! I'm going to have to start telling people, "The last time the katana was used in modern warfare was in the 1967 raid upon SPECTRE's volcano base." They earned it. That one swordsman is a frigging Jedi. Finally, DONALD PLEASANCE as BLOFELD- THAT MAN CAN HANDLE A PUSSY!!! When the explosion goes off at 2:38 that cat is frigging terrified! But there's Donald with the calming Vulcan neck pinch, getting clawed for life and taking it like a pro. It's a two-handed job and the cat abandons its overlord when Blofeld has to be a dick and execute yet another competant, talented, trained, and dedicated henchbeing a few moments later. I guess Blofeld didn't know that cats have their own price for failure. SPECTRE- where good villians go to get fragged. I tell you people, one fuck up and it's cruel and unusual time? All that job has going for it is its completely badass style and John Barry brass mood music. Which IS a lot, admittedly. To this day nobody probably has cooler submersibles than SPECTRE.

This is one thing Daniel Craig’s Bond was missing. He had to do every goddamn thing himself! 🤣

Okay Ninjas, we’ll be using our grey turtlenecks and slacks tonight, along with our bright white climbing ropes. Okay? Let’s go.

Greatest Bond Moment... Full military assault, everyone geared up and no one blinks a eye that the battle includes a chick dressed like a go-go dancer. The only thing missing from the opening scene in Saving Private Ryan...a chick in a bikini on the landing craft

Still a way better climax than the overlong underwater climax in thunderball.
@horrorfanandy46472 жыл бұрын
Personally I always enjoyed the underwater combat, it’s something different, but I can see how dragged out it becomes. I find the ocean beautiful and scary all at once, so I was enraptured the whole time anyway.

@@horrorfanandy4647 I hate to admit but thunderball is one of my least favorite bond movies. Honestly I consider you only live twice a guilty pleasure.

That poor ninja that rappelled down already full of bullet holes.
@gina72883 жыл бұрын
I cringed at him riddled before he hit the bottom and others still on their ropes riddled with bullets slowly going around in circles. Brave men there wasn't alot of screaming with them getting full of so many holes my husband said he would of screamed his head off lol.

@@postersandstuff Yes it's definitely a good movie I remember that bit from watching it as a kid and my mum cringing and saying he looked like a Swiss cheese coming down the rope.,the poor guy was well riddled, looking at it now it looks like he got a couple in his ass as well.

That poor cat looks really frightened.
@christoph4042 жыл бұрын
well the Cat was okay till the explosions started....Cats and Dogs are usually terrified of fireworks and Blofeld's Cat is no exception...according to Director Lewis Gilbert the Cat was so panicked and traumatised that it scarpered into the steel girders in the roof of the set and it took three days to persuade him to come down, Lewis Gilbert told that story at the NFT London while he was doing a Q and A prior to a special screening of " Moonraker", that would have been about ten years ago or so.....I was in the audience.

Looking back on it, the Japanese dude @ 2:55 has such aggressive features, I always thought he looked like a Dunmer/Drow/Dark Elf from Skyrim/Dungeons and Dragons. 😂
