Credit to Daniel Craig here. He truly looks like he is down and out. The rough stubble, the bloodshot eyes, the pale complexion. This is a Bond barely keeping it together and the failure of the following tests MI6 put him through are believable. Often you get the ''hero'' in a dark space but it rarely sells, i.e., see Brosnan supposedly tortured for months in North Korea in Die Another Day and yet he looks fresh as roses soon after. Here though, it works. Bond feels, not finished, but hanging by a thread.

Amazing. Daniel Craig's acting. The subtlety of indicating his sense of purpose in the profession that deems him expendable such that he places the bottle down immediately at the news that could have him reinstated. How his life outside of it is quiet and empty. Alcohol driven even to the point of creating an added layer of danger with his drinking by incorporating scorpions and loveless affairs. His statement of "enjoying death" said with a glass of alcohol raised spoken spitefully and how that it "lends perspective" nevertheless he was swift to make a return in the conversation. James is a sad character, his heroism is only a veil for his lack of friendship, family or any significant relationship. His only relationship is with the job that values him only for his physical prowess which is called to question by an enemy who was discarded in like fashion. It's like when Bruce went to fight Bane expecting to die. Similarly it brings him to Madeleine like Bruce's return brought him to Selena.

The cinematography, the action sequences, made the movies way more darker that it ever was. Loved how in the end of the interview Daniel talked about rarity of James Bond movies. You've added a part of your personality and life to the cinema history, Mr. Craig, and it is a valuable input. Thank you Daniel Craig. I always thought that Judi Dench’s M really came into its own once they rebooted the series, toughened the whole thing up and allowed her character to be more tetchy and hard-bitten and less cosy and overtly matronly. Oddly enough, it also enabled M to get some really funny lines, such as, When somebody says ‘we have people everywhere’, you expect it to be hyperbole. Florists use the expression. You don’t expect them to have somebody standing in the bloody room!“ from Quantum of Solace. 😆

Dan and Judi's Bond/M dynamic is absolute top shelf. Every exchange with them is exhilarating and biting, with some aspect of their relationship always being advanced forward. M is tough but fair, and she really helps to mold Craig's Bond into the man we all love, because she instills in him the principles and disciplines required to do the job to the best of his ability.

Honestly skyfall is my favorite bond movie. It was such a great story and a good redemption for bond. I loved that he wasnt the same bond because of his injury, yet still was able to hold his own against the villain. Godly villain too. This movie showed exactly why he is james bond. Hands down my favorite of the franchise.

@Electro Crypto Yep, remember when he told Hillary he was going to lock her up. Many cheered and chanted, lock her up. It was all an act, a play, a theatrical performance. Hollywood can not make TV shows and movies that well. All the fighting and arguing is just a show. They work to promote one agenda.

Something I noticed binging all of these Craig era clips is that Bond grows increasingly angry and rugged since Casino Royale. I don't know if its intentional, but Craig really portrays the "dying inside" of this character as he continues to witness tragedy and hardship.

What i really love about this scene is that, like Bond said, M didn't trust him to finish the Job. It's less about him being shot and more to do with the fact that he views M's decision as her losing trust/faith in his abilities, and it's a common theme throughout the film as Bond's age and ability are constantly being mentioned throughout.
@mithos562 жыл бұрын
I don't know that she didn't trust him so much as She is experienced enough not to let personal feelings get in the way of the mission. For her it isn't about trust or who is the best agent, its getting the mission done, and retrieving that list.
@ibringit9872 жыл бұрын
@@mithos56 I was mainly talking about how Bond Percieved her actions because i think in the other craig bond films he probably believes she would've let him deal with the issue himself if that makes sense

1:18 "I'm going to find whoever did this." Dame Judi Dench has played a wide range of roles and in other contexts those words could imply many things. But that moment specifically says to me - "I'm an experienced battle hardened tactician, these losses were painful and unacceptable, someone is going to die for this." That may be me projecting a bit and reading the scene like that because I know the context. They do say that editing can make far more difference to a shot than anything the actor can do. But I like to believe that Judi Dench's superb acting is at least somewhat responsible for the feeling of this moment.

The way Bond kind of complains "what did you say 'take the bloody shot '". It gives a peek into his vulnerability and how he's somewhat hurt by M's action. The two are tied together its more than enployer and employee dynamics between them.
