@JohnnysWhips it would be very helpful if u can actually explain what this sensor does and if they don't change what would be the outcome lol. Alot of video show just replace but can't explain the con or pro lol. Maybe u and don't know. But it's very important to change it out. The torque converter clutch is working as switch to let all them gear switch when rpm is reached, and if this sensor doesn't be replaced, most likely ur torque converter or ur transmission will be broken and need to be replace from being damages. This sensor do release the flow of oils into them selectors gears if anyone wants to know what it does. So here I explain it to whoever concern them. My 2 cents for everyone. Thank me later peace out

Will this work if my reverse and 1st gear won’t engange and doesn’t shift normally? Or is it the fluid or my clutch discs it’s an 05 civic auto
@gsjourney30542 жыл бұрын
Hey man I’m trying to figure out what happened with my civic (05 ex se) I was driving at like 25-30 mph and came to a red light and instantly the car got a stutter, and when I went to drive off for the green light the engine just revved like I was in neutral. After turning it off and on the torque converter grabbed but won’t engage for long so I had to park it after having no acceleration. The shifter feels a lot more stiff when I put it in park from drive I’m pretty stuck on what could be wrong. What caused you to replace the solenoid? I have no engine lights or anything no warning before it happened I just stopped at a red light and the rest was history no fluid leaking or anything.
@JohnnysWhips2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply, To be honest with you I don’t know why that would happen to your car I’m really not sure. The reason I replaced the torque converter clutch solenoid on my car is because I plugged in my scanner when the check engine light came on and it said the torque converter clutch solenoid was bad. This happened after I put a JDM transmission. Then afterwards I found out that this was a common problem but the car runs good and the transmission runs strong. The only thing is that the check engine light stays on. Did you ever figure out what happened with your car?

@JohnnysWhips3 жыл бұрын
Adam, what’s up bro! The car doesn’t have any symptoms at all. I put a JDM transmission and the check engine light came on. I plugged in my 3140rs Innova scanner and the code P1457 comes out. It says torque converter clutch failure. The car runs great with no problems. I’ve seen other videos were people say that they drive it like that for years and there’s nothing wrong with it but for some reason the JDM transmissions cause that check engine light to come on. I clear it but it comes back only when I go over 65 MPH. Only at that speed and above. If I never drive more than 65 mph the check engine light won’t come on but as soon as I go past 65 it turns on but nothing is wrong with the car drives perfectly fine with or without the check engine light on. I didn’t know about this until after I replaced the torque converter clutch solenoid LOL but hey we got a video out of it….By the way thanks for watching and check out all my other videos.👍
@chrisburkhardt49023 жыл бұрын
Hey man! Just wanted to add a little to Johnny's reply. You can actually get a couple of codes with this being bad. However, it's only going to code if it's causing some sort of electrical issue that the PCM can read/see (I.E. Ohms out of spec range). You can have a failing TCC that doesn't set a code because of manual operation failure. Common issues of that would be the torque converter not engaging (revving but not going anywhere) or not operating smoothly (car downshifts and free-revs for a second before actually going anywhere...especially when you floor it) or even harsh or jarring upshifting. You can test the internal coil by ohming it out with a multimeter (should be between 12 - 25 ohms) and you can bench test it by putting 12V power to it and listening for a click. There are some other sensors that can cause those issues as well (like the VSS and A-B Shift Solenoid). Short of finding something wrong with the ohms or the bench test, you're stuck shotgun-diagnosing it and randomly replacing sensors. There are some other indicators that may lead you to suspect one sensor over the other (like if your speedo randomly drops and then picks back up and has hard shifting it's probably your VSS and not the TCC... or has erratic up and down shifting and hangs when downshifting under full acceleration it's probably your A-B Shift Solenoid) but the problem is with intermittent failures and no codes, it really COULD be any one of them...or even a couple of them.....or a mechanical failure within the transmission as well. If you're gonna start randomly replacing sensors/solenoids, I would suggest starting with the cheapest and working your way up (so probably TCC, A-B Shift Solenoid, then VSS)

What seems to be the problem? Is it the solenoid as well? Also, my transmission fluid is in normal level. Thank you in advance!
@kevinlima33010 ай бұрын
First thing to do is to drain and fill the fluid, don't flush, and use OEM fluid only. Lucas stopslip may be helpful too. If that doesn't work baby the transmission by not reversing as much as possible and live with it.

@@kevinlima330 Sorry for the super late reply, I've drained the fluid and put a new OEM fluid, I also replaced the solenoid just like on this video, but still the issue persists. Does this mean there's an issue to the torque converter?
@kevinlima3306 ай бұрын
@@jericotadeja1033 If you don't have any problems with your other gears or don't get a check engine light it's almost certainly not a solenoid issue. Reverse is likely just wore out.

Would a bad ecm make the transmission go into limp mode..
@rileycarriere36842 жыл бұрын
My ecu was shot when I first got my car and it would go into limpmode because the ecu wasn't letting my alternator do its job of recharging the battery and so the car would only draw 12v instead of 14. My car had a couple wiring issues biggest being bad grounds so my gues is that my ecu got grounded lol

For anyone else looking where to buy this part, use the OEM part number at other car part stores. All the major car part stores where I live (AutoZone, Advance Auto and O'Reillys) call this a Transmission Control Solenoid, so you won't find anything looking for "Clutch Converter Solenoid". Averages $50 and matches with the OEM part number OP gave. Hope that helps.

Hey so I recently changed the solenoid but my car is still throwing p0740. What do you think it could be? Also my car doesn’t shift into d3 does that have anything to do with it you think?

Hey there was this issue fixed? I'm having the same p0740 code.
@Bababooey292 жыл бұрын
@@mahendragirdharri4962 it wasn’t fixed. I cleaned the adapter and Put a brand new tcc in. Also I did a complete flush and trans fluid. I was able to determine that it is in fact the torque converter. I get hard shifts from 1st to 2nd. Bad news is Honda doesn’t sell the part and if your purchase it elsewhere it has to be a Honda OEM part. I live in Pennsylvania. They quoted me $1500 for labor not including the torque converter.

And does that remove the code?
@JohnnysWhips2 жыл бұрын
If the torque converter clutch solenoid is the reason why the code is on yes but if it’s something else then the code will remain on. For example it could also be the torque converter itself which is located inside of the transmission. Get a scanner, find out the code that your car has and research the code online. I even bought the repair manual for this car. It was only like $20 at AutoZone and it’s very helpful. Let us know how it goes, thanks Albert.👍
