Amazing transformation. Shame on the red on the tail piece. That's where all the rs50/rs125 get faded and I'd love to see how you did it. How many hours do you think you've spent on this so far?

The complete project beginning to end was somewhere around 60/70hrs

What paint did you use for the red?

When you said you gave the front fender a cut and buff did you mean just the bare plastic? I have a 2000 RS50 I'm currently restoring, mine is in the grey/yellow scheme. The yellow front fender seems it's cleared coated with areas that seemed to have peeled.

The front fender has a basecoat color, red or yellow and is then clear coated. In our case the clear coat was still good so we lightly sanded it back with 2000grit wet&dry then polished it back to gloss. If the clear coat has started to peel the only solution is to repaint the base color and then clear it. If you try to just polish or re-clear it as it is, it will look a mess.

@@MCSR52 Ok, thank you. Was the red fender painted completely, top and underneath? My yellow one is, which made me think it was yellow plastic rather than a base coat. I just thought it was strange to paint the entire part where the front/rear fairings and side panels are unpainted black plastic on the reverse sides.

What dam paint did you use for the flora red? Ive research it and it seems to be some type of two stage white and transparent red.

Correct, in the end I got it from RS Motorbike Paint the UK where this bike was more popular. I’ll post a photo on my community notes for the correct black and red. The red does require a white base, any pure white will work but you can also buy the white base from RS Paints.

Thank you brother. I've been looking for that paint for my aprilia RS and couldn't find it anywhere. The closet match I've come up with was Ford Raptor Red and a Ferrari paint code but neither had the florescent pop that this paint requires. I will be ordering some tomorrow 👍
