I relate to all the characters in the show for one reason or another, as I'm sure most of us do: humans be complex like that. But Haruka's story... I found myself in her exact shoes as a teenager. I tried makeup, hair stuff, clothes, whatever had a certain kind of feminine Energy; even certain colors, like yes, Red. Time and time again, I got the same questions: am I trying to impress a guy? Is there someone I like? Am I just showing off to get people to look at me more? Eventually I stopped with the makeup. I stopped caring about my clothes. I stopped doing my hair, and within a few years, I had cut it off. It's been short ever since, because I've felt like I'm not allowed to be a certain way, because I can't get away from the specific ideas that other people have about me. I was not some love- or attention-hungry girl trying to get noticed, I was a human being trying to figure out what made me feel most like a human being. It was never about "looking" a certain way. It was about the Energy I was bringing to my own table: how my own approach to my own life made me feel. When I stopped feeling love and magic for my own image, I stopped feeling it for my entire life, and I've been in a deep rut ever since, that I am only just starting to come out of almost 20 years later. For many, this may seem like a trivial subject, but your Identity affects how you feel about life in general. If you don't feel like Yourself, you start to feel like your life is fake, and therefore, wasted. Society desperately needs this series. I hope it gets more traffic.

Yep, I feel very simmilar. My parents, even in my 20s, still wanted me to be the same as I was in high school. However, my parents were living vicariously through me in high school. I'm slowly trying to get myself out of their grip so I can do what I want and go where I want. Hope your "personal revolution" is going well internet stranger.

i love how each story ties directly into each other. when haruka said "you'll feel a lot better if you stop letting yourself be controlled," i love how the view falls on mana, who is also struggling with being her true self and wondering what others say about her. the storytelling here is absolutely amazing!

Interesting. An afterword for each of Nina's customers. Its also interesting that the trainer, a side-character, was given more prominent a role in the picture story. She definitely was a big part of the reason why Haruka felt lost in the 1st episode. I'm also glad they went with the direction of making Haruka feel more like herself instead of making it wholly a "change to be more girly".
