This is so sad. But, here are some words of wisdom. When you get mad, fight, argue with family,friends or others. Remeber, those last words that you spoke and how you treated someone wrongly. Will be the last words you spoke. The last words the person will remember. Before, they take thier last breath. Each day is a blessing and a gift. Our world is so full of hate and sadness. My husband is a retired (30 years in) peace officer and worked a lot of alcohol related car accidents and he always talked about how rare it was for the person driving drunk to be killed. He even talked about how many escaped serious injuries as well. Drunks have slower reflexes and of course they have extremely dulled sensory perception, so they really are like rag dolls, because the alcohol prevents a person from reacting to the " Fight or Flight "" reflex that we all have(sober of course)so unfortunately, they are too relaxed and feel no need to prepare themselves physically to either run or fight like they would if they were sober. I just wish the law would punish these ppl harder, because they destroy so many ppls lives besides just the victims they hit on the road. When I see horrific accidents like this, caused by careless drunks, I get disgusted. Recently, a man caused an accident killing two others in another car. He was wasted on drugs, arrested sometime later after he just drove away; a video showed him examining his damaged car. The two people he killed? They meant nothing to him. This "killer" then posted on his social media account what a nice guy he is. His friends gave him "thumbs up"...he then stated that he's undergoing terrific trauma because of the legal system that's "against him" and he can't wait until he can write his next song. He stated that because of all his legal problems, he cannot be creative. Then he posts this! These sociopaths claim "no responsibility". In the video that captured the accident, anyone can clearly see how reckless he drove, crossing over two lanes, clearly striking the other car, forcing it to hit the wall, which then instantly killed the two people in that car. He just kept driving for a bit as if nothing happened. Another motorist, whose car had a dashcam in it recorded the entire thing, and then posted it on KZbin. My friend, a father of 5 children and a police officer was killed instantly by a drunk driver in a wrong-way accident. The drunk was driving a van; his headlights were off; the highway had no overhead lights. The local police were alerted and did everything they could to get to him and get him off the road; the drunk was driving 110 mph the wrong way at 1:00 am. Absolutely NOTHING happened to him; his van was smashed beyond recognition, as was the car of my late friend. The police arrived literally seconds after the collision. The whole thing was terrible--and the funeral was very very emotional. The drunk driver had THREE prior accidents, two of which he injured other motorists (one prior accident kept his victim hospitalized for months). Each time he had an accident causing injury, the drunk driver claimed innocence and refused to accept ANY responsibility. Believe it or not, during his trial, they brought in the five children and my friend's family, including his parents. The killer was completely immune to what he did...their suffering and pain meant nothing to him. He didn't even make a single move of repulse when they showed the jury the pictures of my friend and his crushed car. The killer blamed EVERYONE else - the liquor store that sold him the vodka, the vodka manufacturer, even the manufacturer of his van! He got 17 years in prison; it wasn't enough. Not even one hint of an apology My solution is rather draconian; too offensive to most "gentler" folk who believe in total or even partial forgiveness. The children were so traumatized, as was my friend's wife, who lost the love of her life. The children lost their father forever, and the killer? My friend's death and the pain and suffering of his family meant NOTHING to the drunk killer. The killer now applies for early release, again claiming NO responsibility. For this reason, he remains imprisoned. I am certain; once he gets out, he'll drink again and he'll kill again. He claimed that HE was a victim also. I believe in very very harsh treatment of ANY drunk driver when another person is injured or killed. I have NO MERCY for these monsters.

Make certain it records your location at all times along with YOUR speed. When you install it ascertain that you can remove it while in operation and point it anywhere. For example if an officer stops you for anything remove it from its bracket and record his face and badge. Remember that video recordings are irrefutable evidence as to what ACTUALLY went down!

Which vehicle was going the wrong direction? As far as the argument below...sometimes there is just nothing that can be done no matter what safety EQ there is. My bf got hit on a rainy night in March head on/ driver's side of our little Kia by someone veering into his lane at about 70 mph. Three things saved him. The safety features worked. He had on his seatbelt, the airbag deployed, and the car buckled. From the body to the steering column, it worked just right. He was lucky. VERY lucky.

He hit the uneven intersection and lost control, maybe 80 - 90 yds from the crash site. He hit the left curb, swerved to the right, hit that curb, then slid sideways back to the left, where he hit a telephone pole. The car wrapped around the pole. There was about a foot between the front and rear bumpers around the pole. I called it in as I went out. But there was obviously no need to go closer. I told the to send the coroner.

+Zyworski Talk about being clueless. Where do I start? "The PT Cruiser looks mostly intact." Really??? I suppose being compressed to half its original length doesn't count. "full of fatalities." Ummm... no. Only one person died. "even in the back seat." Nope. It was the front seat passenger who died. "I wonder what the fatal injuries were, and can cars be better designed to protect against those injuries." Both cars did a hell of a job considering the brutality of the impact and how extensive the damage was. Not much you can do when there's no survivable space left. "On the other hand there is no way to correct failure to wear your seatbelt." You really like talking out of your ass, don't you? What basis do you have to suspect anyone wasn't belted?
@Zyworski8 жыл бұрын
Compressed to half its original length??? You must be one of those guys who tell the girls that 4 inches is really 8 inches. I doubt the vehicle lost more than about 8 inches in total length, and I am looking right at the picture. In my mind I can't envision a way to die in this accident while wearing a safety belt unless something came through the windshield or someone was unsecured. This may come as a shock to you but people die from causality it doesn't just happen by magic.
@blueyedhusky8 жыл бұрын
Zyworski I know what I'm seeing. The one that needs an eye check is you. So you think that a tiny PT Cruiser is going to inflict the kind if damage you saw in the Suburban (or did you not see that?), and not suffer significant compression? Did you see the size of the doors in the PT Cruiser? They are HALF their normal size! The impact was on the passenger side, and that's where the most compression happened. In hard crashes, people die despite wearing seatbelts. If you can't envision that, then you're totally clueless. Have you any idea what these kind of G-forces can do to internal organs? You don't? I didn't think you would.
@Zyworski8 жыл бұрын
+Carlos Don't bullshit a bullshitter! I am right here at 1:51 and looking right at the tires evenly positioned withing the wheel wells and the rocker is as strsight as an arrow. You are not going to give me any instant lessons in Newtonian Physics that I haven't already learned the hard way. The point I like to make about my story is that I walked away thanks to safety belts. You can pooh pooh them all you want, but I will always remain loyal to mine.
@blueyedhusky8 жыл бұрын
Zyworski You're looking at the wrong side. You can't appreciate the magnitude of the impact from that side. Look at 5:08. That's the side where the fatality occurred. Seatbelts or not, there was no survivable space. Don't take me wrong. I'm not knocking seatbelts. I just disagree with your conclusion that a person died because of not wearing seatbelts. That's pure conjecture on your part. Glad you survived your accident. But if you persist in defending your point, I'm going to start thinking you hit your head real hard.

They need to put those plates on exit ramps like they have in parking garages that will flatten your tires if you try to enter the wrong way. The drunk always survives. Drunk drivers that kill innocent people should be charged with 1st degree murder.

those are not designed for high speed. and semi's would quickly make mince meat out of the mechanics. But I agree with the last part there, Deborah.. drunk drivers need to pay. Even injuries where the victims survive they should still pay.

At 4 am, it is still dark and could have been traffic preventing moving to another lane. Besides who in their right mind driving down the freeway thinks an idiot driving the wrong way is going to pop-up over the horizon? By the time you realize what is actually coming at you, it is too late. And how fast was each driving? From the time first seen and the time of impact the distance between the 2 was probably very short. (Thats a math problem that I can no longer do in my head.)

I'm so appalled at the actions of the Chevy driver, but also how poorly that late 90s Tahoe or Suburban faired in that crash! The PT weighs half what that suv does, and it folded like a toy. Drunk or impaired drivers should get the same punishment they would if they’d injured a person with a knife or gun. Many times they’re allowed to plead out in front of a far too lenient judge. For decades society hasn’t wanted to punish drunk drivers like other criminals because so many people drink and think that could’ve been me, I’m not going to send that guy to prison for 20 years, but that’s exactly what they deserve. First offense DWI should be a felony!

Chyba. Prosze o komentarz.
