12:26 Not design workshop, drawing workshop. We don't design anything there, we sketch, draw, paint objects and models. It's a drawing class, not designing workshop.

I had the opportunity to interview architect Álvaro Siza Vieira and to address the issue brought up at 14:08 in relation with the idea of school as "building" and school as "instituition". [ Hugo interviews Álvaro Siza Vieira (1) ]

THX for sharing this vid. I like this vid so much that I want to translate it into Chinese and put subtitles on it so that more people can understand. I can understand 99.99% of them but at 22:17 there is a word I can't tell that sounds like "cutitaoclar". I will be appreciate if anyone can help.

It is "coup de théâtre", which means a theatrical trick or gesture, something staged for dramatic effect. Enjoy :)

Hey btw, any chance to get work in china?
@shenghongify10 жыл бұрын
csxlab Haha, nice try. I'm actually a Taiwanese, Taiwan is a small island beside China, I saw your profile which says you have lived in Japan for awhile so you might know that. So speaking of working in China, I really don't know. But Taiwan is a beautiful place maybe you can visit here someday.

I'll always distinguish Siza and Alto as; 'The White Architect' and 'The Predecessor of Godin'

7:06 Does anyone know anything about that graffiti by the ramp? I know another building of Siza has that same graffiti, is there a story?

The project became known as Bonjour Tristesse (“hello sadness”in French) for the graffiti marking that appeared on the uppermost portion of the facade in the late 1980s. Siza, who is not particularly fond of graffiti, had originally wanted it removed but decided to leave it after he realized that painting over the select area would make it more prominent and that painting the entire façade was not financially possible. www.archdaily.com/519337/ad-classics-wohnhaus-schlesisches-tor-bonjour-tristesse-alvaro-siza-vieira-peter-brinkert
