02 Lancer: How to install a cabin air filter

This is a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally.
The cabin is located behind the glove compartment box. Since the 2002 Lancer wasn't installed with a cabin air filter, you'll have to cut out the plastic panel to get access to the filter slot, then you can install the filter. The one in this video was $11.25 on eBay.

Hey bro I have the same car and I have a question. Why in others Lancer the grip above the filter is sealed and yours and mine not? This affect anything?

I see what you're saying. I think it might be a sponge-like material that prevents dust from flying everywhere. Maybe Mitsubishi forgot to install it in our cars. I could be wrong.

The cabin air filter has nothing to do with the temperature of the air. If your A/C isn't blowing cold air, your may have a leak in your A/C system.

Every time I turn on the ac I hear some rattling what do you think it could be? I’ve seen some videos about how it can possibly be leafs or debris on some other types of cars but the fan blowers were in the engine bay so I don’t see how leafs can get in the fan motor if it’s inside the car under the glove box

You would need to check with your local auto parts dealer. I’ve checked online for cabin air filters for a 1998 Lancer but the year isn’t showing up.
