The song is 100% Scottish, composed in 1990 by a Scot for the opening of the Loch Ness Visitor Centre, and in his own words "The monster in the loch goes way back to ancient Gaelic myths of seahorses (kelpies), and to write this little tune, I imagined a Gaelic community on the banks of Loch Ness". Can't get more Scottish than the composer, Kelpies and Loch Ness. It cracks me up when I read of Irish and Irish Americans waxing lyrical about how it reminds them of Ireland.
