@Clem Fandango - Rot! Gael does not mean Irish. A Gael is a member of Gaelic speaking communities from Ireland, Scotland AND the IOM. The song is 100% Scottish, composed in 1990 by a Scot for the opening of the Loch Ness Visitor Centre, and in his own words "The monster in the loch goes way back to ancient Gaelic myths of seahorses (kelpies), and to write this little tune, I imagined a Gaelic community on the banks of Loch Ness". Can't get more Scottish than the composer, Kelpies and Loch Ness. It cracks me up when I read of Irish and Irish Americans waxing lyrical about how it reminds them of Ireland. Ignorance truly is bliss!

Seek out The Search by Dougie MacLean. He was commissioned by The Loch Ness Monster Society for this song in the late 1980s, and I am in LOVE with the original version.... because it's so ominous and foreboding with the tones of the Loch Ness Monster at the beginning, and then it feels like Nessie comes up to hear the music playing, when Dougie's solo comes in!!
