I do construction for a living siding and windows. Don’t paint it black it makes the walls very hot which will raise your heat and cooling bill. I’d do medium grey siding and paint the trim around the windows white to match.

If it’s spray foam insulated it’s not going to matter.

I went back and checked his video #11, it is indeed spray foam, 5.5 inches thick meaning he likely used closed cell to meet code. R38 insulation value at least, plus it’s airtight… that place is kept very cool, did you notice he only had a tiny 1.5ton AC unit for that structure. Also it looks like he’s in Idaho or somewhere so the added heat would actually save him on heating bills. Black paint is a bold high class design choice that matches the look he’s going for. He probably sold this for 650k or above in Idaho

@@handelhumphrey8596 I know I been doing Remod Construction my whole life been doing it for 35yrs full time and 6yrs part time when I was in school. I'm about to build my own Barndominium in Florida in 2-3 months . I'll be posting videos on the whole experience . I'm doing spray foam also so I can keep the place cool in the summer . Plus spray foam will seal the whole place from bugs and animals .

Have you heard of this happening , maybe you can tell me what went wrong , thanks. I wanted to get my house insulated and wasn't sure what to use , its about 60 years old and I'd have to probably blow insulation In the walls , cuz im not tearing down the drywall .

Cool! I would paint it a tertiary to the natural posts/timber, like a dark red, dark blue, a gray or even a grey/green. Adding solar, along with VAWT turbine could get you some power, along a Bendpak lift for the garage/shop. Oh, and don't forget (if not already) lightning arrestors/rods. Great barndominium!

You could leave the outside as is, but a grey would look cool and stay cool too. Outstanding build. You can never have to much garage space.

I used chain link fence post 4” diameter in black for my railings , contractor wanted $8800.00 cost me like $700 materials and installation.

I'd leave the mismatched doors the way they are, Makes it unique and a funny story to those that notice (you'll be surprised at the amount that don't). AWESOME place though!!!

I think as far as color a natural looking wood color like the color of the wood covering the "house" portion of the shop. If you made it look like a giant cabin, it would be super cool. Then people would pull into the garage or walk through the house and find out its mostly a shop and be like WTH. 😂
