Very interesting video, as we do not use these type locks here in Germany this was very interesting for me. I think I decided finally to do a video on the levers of my Leicher safe deposit lock

Quite possibly. Maybe they used them on the back doors of those apartment/condo mailbox arrays. The postman opens the rear and has access to all the boxes. Perhaps it lets each complex have its own unique key while only requiring the postman to have a couple master keys. It was clearly by design... pretty clever, actually. I'd love to know exactly what they were used for.
