What a wealth of knowledge on these Powerstrokes.....I have owned a 2001, 2006 and now a 2011 with 79,000 miles. I wish I would have found your channel years ago, If so I probably would have waited until 2013 to buy my 6.7 but so far it has been an exceptional F350. Just a quick off topic comment, I started using Archoil both in yje oil and fuel.....could not be happier with the immediate increase in fuel economy and felt power......I remember well when our Diesel fuel first went to pot.....owned a 6.0 in those days. Keep up the great videos on these Powerstrokes.

I got those orings and backup rings from my local hydraulic shop for less than $50 bucks. That was for the stc off of the pump and to do both sides of the flex hoses that go from the standpipes to the oil rail. It is a pain to get the teflon backup ring in there but it's well worth it instead of buying a grand worth of parts you probably dont need. If I remember correctly they are areoquip snap to connect hoses (stc) and new orings and backup washers are available for them

Love this channel- Thanks much Bill. I've saved thousands in labor alone from tech I learned about here. I even re-vamped my entire A/C system on my 2000 Excursion. When I was done, PepBoys spent lots on re-filling her and replacing one seal I undersized. Got the whole system refilled for 60 because of a flat-rate-quote. It should have been over 200. Thanks Bill, my 7.3 will be making it's way to you someday to get reconditioned- Send all the cold to Southern California, we don't have/get enough!!

I had an '04 6.0 and I kept having problems with the o-ring where the J-tube bolts onto the HPOP. Ended up having to re-thread the holes in the pump because they stripped out. Mine was an oddball. '04 motor with the early style pump, but later style standpipes and "W" style oil rail.

Bill, my early 04 with a 03 6.0 is at 201k and I am experiencing some of the problems you describe, what is the name of the braided steel line part that goes from oil down tube to oil log? I have done some on line research for parts, but cannot find those perticular parts anywhere.You have provided me with a wealth of info to keep my truck running as best possible. I am a retired Marine so I have to keep her going for at least another 100k. Thanx again for your Vet program.

hey Bill, for the nylon ring, try part# ms28774-??, it is called a backup ring, if you go to a aviation repair place with a o,- ring they should be able to size it up for you, and they are not very expensive. hope that helps you.

@powerstrokehelp Bill, I Did extensive work on my 06 truck with the guidance of your videos and the guidance of DieseltechRons videos. I recently purchased an 03. I really enjoy working on these trucks and learning about them. I recently bought an 03 that has some HPO issues. In this video you did some talking about your shop upgrading the oil system from 03 to a late model style (like my 06) as well as the common failure locations. I would like to know what all goes into converting an 03 to a late model as far as: does the engine need to be pulled, ALL parts that you need. Particularly I am curious if you use the actual later pump or just the newer lines.

I’ve been looking all over for an answer. The up right pipe that threads directly into the the block . Can it be replaced without taking the heads off? Like will it be able to come out taking the head off? I have yet to find any video where someone is replacing this part. Your video is the only one mentioning it with this early model design so I’m really trying to figure this out. Cause nobody talks about it or how much torque they take to tighten them.

Tim, did you find a resolution on your early 04? im in the same boat. i thought it was an STC fitting like my 05, and when i got down to the HPOP i realized there was no STC fitting and am now chasing my tail as to what to do next, as i only had 370 PSI when cranking, and it is loosing power fast when i was running down the interstate just prior to then. i am going to run a pressurized air check and am just hoping its the Ford 3C3Z-9T288-AA - TUBE - OIL that was replaced by the STC design in later builds.

They will twist sometimes coming out and unavoidable. They will require replacement. They typically twist out a 1/4 turn before finally letting go I've found. I always replace them going back together to be sure you don't have a come back.

Jensen LeBlanc Hey Bill, My 2002 7.3 has a small issue. Every time we pull a trailer and go up a grade the check engine light comes on from an over boost code. Also the turbo makes a weird noise around 2200 rpm almost like a scrape when it sits for a while or while going up a grade loaded. It gets worse after the check engine light is on. What is the best way to solve this problem and is there any other problems we should look out for? The only product I have found is the Driven Diesel Overboost Annihilator for the overboost.Thanks p.s. Second time I posted this just to make sure you see it.

If I want to convert to an 05 style HPOP from an 03. Does this require removing the motor or lifting the cab? Also, Do you actually go to the 05 style pump, or just a new pump with the 05 style tubes?
@stucbr11005 жыл бұрын
Travis Tubbs yes the motor has to be disconnected from the transmission because the branch tube from the oil pump into the head needs to be replaced with the new style. Upgrade your lifters and inspect your camshaft while you’re in there.

IMO from what i have seen on the 6.4 when stock and not meticulously maintained the failures have been catastrophic I.E. fubar. Base price from Ford for a complete factory drop in unit your looking at 14g for the engine alone.
