Dr. Todd has provided incredibly clear and comprehensive explanations in his videos, making it remarkably easy for me to grasp the concepts. Despite struggling for the past three weeks to learn SPSS, I was able to absorb a significant amount of knowledge within just one hour of watching his videos. I greatly appreciate his teaching style. If it were possible, I would be grateful for the opportunity to connect with Dr. Todd to seek his guidance and assistance with a specific issue I'm facing in my work. His expertise would be invaluable in helping me resolve this matter.

These videos are absolutely amazing. I've been studying psychology for over 10 years, and am now on my third postgraduate stats course after being completely lost on the stats module of my previous MSc and on my PhD (and consequently seeking safety as a qualitative researcher!). Believing I just 'couldn't do stats' I'd almost given up. This is the first resource/teaching style I've found that takes it at the pace I need. It's really helpful to have spent some time ensuring you really grasp some of the basics first (such as knowing what all the terms means (Types of variables, measures of central tendency, SD, SE, CIs etc and the basics of research design) but once you know what the terms all mean and are ready to start using SPSS, these videos are just the best.

@mynameistaztheboy89297 жыл бұрын
just wanna ask hope u reply this : what is the difference between standard deviation and z score ? and could u give an example?
@ResearchByDesign7 жыл бұрын
The SD is the average amount that all of the scores in the sample deviate from their mean. The z-score is the distance that a specific score deviates from the mean put into units of the SD. Example: SD is how much your weight varies around your average weight across a day; z-score measures how far your 7 AM weight is from your average.
@MsAchu215 жыл бұрын
@@ResearchByDesign u mentioned 2/3rd of weight varies up or down from mean.how did you get that 2/3rd?
@ResearchByDesign5 жыл бұрын
@@MsAchu21 The 2/3 was a slight rounding from .6814, which is the proportion of scores 1 standard deviation above and 1 SD below the mean. So, roughly 2/3 of the scores are within +1 to -1 SD of the mean.

This may sound weird, but I was wondering how you calculated 2/3 of the population being 13.4 std from the mean. I just want to know how you got 2/3
@michaelmclean37675 жыл бұрын
so in Standard deviation there is the 65-95-99.7 rule, general rule that about 2 thirds of data is within 1 standard deviation (in this case 13.4) and 95 percent of data will be within 2 standard deviation, and 99.7 within 3. this video helps explain it well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYfbZICPmZKEb9k

It makes sense but for my variables i am using gender, age groups and location so a little bit difficult for me to follow since i am not using the raw data of height and weight. any suggestions??
@ResearchByDesign4 жыл бұрын
For height and weight (scale level variables) try the Analyze -> Descriptive Statistics -> Descriptives command and make sure that you get mean and SD. You can select other descriptives and also plots with that command. For categorical variable (gender, age groups, etc.) the Frequencies will give you lots of options. Good luck.

Hi sir I hope you are fine as I enter random data on 50 items and the answer of reliability I got in negative now I can't check each items to get positive reliability how I can get it in positive and also can you tell me the accepted range of reliability
@ResearchByDesign4 жыл бұрын
If the data are random, then you will not have high reliability. A negative reliability means that your scale is not working and you need to start over or fix it because the items are not measuring the same construct. There is no way to make a negative reliability positive except to have a reliable scale. You are looking for a minimum Cronbach's alpha of .70, but higher is better. Good luck!
