Wow. At Last! An SPSS training that shows the micro steps, explains the input field functions clearly and visibly demonstrates with a pointer what tab is being accessed at every stage of the process, rather than rushing ahead according to the tutors own level of expertise and not the students. You are a great teacher and have made look easy and accessible, within a few minutes, what other trainings have failed to demystify over a period of hours. As part of my PhD work I just struggled partway through 2 recommended SPSS trainings on Udemy and was left sea sick and convinced the program/software was beyond me. There are many great trainers, but far too many cannot coherently unpack what they know and introduce it effectively, to those who do not yet know, for successful applied learning. Thank You!

Hi there! Thank you so much for your videos. I have an issue with SPSS and I can't seem to find the solution. When I make a frequency table for different variables, I don't get all the values that were given in the table. For example: I make a frequency table of the variable 'How happy are you?', the values lable from 1 - 5. If I look at the frequency table in my output, it gives only 2 - 5. Presumably because no one chose value 1, how do I manage to still show 1 - 5 in the table?

You seem like a great teacher. Question; what do you do if your data is ALREADY a frequency table, and you want SPSS to like... read it as such? Is that possible?
@ResearchByDesign2 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you have frequencies, you could enter them as they are and then use the WEIGHT CASES command to weight the categories by frequencies. You can then calculate mean & SD, etc. Enter one column as the categories and a second column of frequencies. good luck

HELP!!! I followed this video step-by-step using my assigned data. I entered 6 participants (4 male, 2 female). However, when I clicked analyze, descriptive statistics then frequencies -- a chart was created show 11 participants with 5 missing. WHY 11 ??? and how do I correct this to show only 6?
@ResearchByDesign3 жыл бұрын
SPSS is reading the rows below your data as missing. This will happen if you have additional rows on data in other columns. A sure fix is to open a fresh dataset and re-enter the numbers. When this "error" occurs, it is often because of importing a file from Excel and/or entering data in other parts of the dataset, then deleting it and starting over. You have "activated" 11 rows. Good luck

When entering the values for Gender or other Ordinal variables, should I enter the text (male or female) or 1 or 2 in SPSS ? Does enter one over the other in data view make the dataset harder / easier to manipulate ?
@ResearchByDesign4 жыл бұрын
Either way will work ( M & F vs. 1 & 2 vs. 1 & 0). Using 1 & 0 will be best if you are going to be doing any kind of regression. If it is for a t-test, ANOVA, or just descriptive stats, either way will work. SPSS will treat the data as a factor.

To open Excel in SPSS, watch this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aojQgnWPbMl7ZpI. To deal with missing values, you need to do some form of imputation. I don't have a video about that. You need to fill in as many missing values as you can. Some people use the mean. If you have a pro version of SPSS, you will have a missing values function. Good luck.
