Haven management is probably my favorite addition to LW. It is indeed much more complex than it looks. I missed this and stopped playing WOTC to get back to LW2. LWOTC shows a lot of promise. :)

It is indeed a great addition - if they would add some more transparency around it, it might cater more to newer players alike. I am always a fan of making informed decisions instead of needing to know the code / mechanics that are not explained upfront.

6:30 Specialists with Scanning Protocol assigned as Advisers will also help with preventing or discovering Faceless Ones infiltrations. The maximum size of Resistance personnel per haven that is allowed to be active is 10 - anything more care only Hide.

Definitely tactical that’s killing my campaigne. Every missons goes the same reinforcements back to back. Now I know how the vigilance works I might start again again

Hi Dave, most of the information still applies, but it was created with the Beta 1 as a base. I have not looked into the latest release, the class guides are probably outdated, but topics like Haven Management has not seen much change I would assume.

A very important thing i think you didn't mention is that in the faceless missions you get the corpses. And therefore they are very important and it's best to try to not use grenades.

Hey syken. Thank you for explaining haven management in depth. My question is that I am at end of May and discovered 4 regions. Every available operative is assigned to intel so I am going on full intel strategy as you described. I am on regional tower mission and lib3 on another region. What do you think my approach should be for allocating operatives? East U.S. has only 4 operatives so should I do recruit here? And just wait on assigning others to supply until I liberate a region?

I would suggest you focus on 2 regions to farm them with max intel and deploy as many teams as you can. In the meantime, I would recruit in the other 2 areas. The 2 intel areas will be liberated first, then you can expand further and turn the recruited areas into new intel areas.

Hi Kevin, thanks for the feedback, which I am happy to take in. I am currently spending some time to improve the quality of the guides (including re-recording them with better scripts). You can see the difference in the first guide. Give it some time and I will eventually update them all.

Hi Angel, that very much depends on how far the invasion already has gone. The more the better. It used to be 8 in the classical long-war IIRC, but I do not have a firm number for the LWOTC.

Ok. Because i saw my starting system start increasing dramatically and was at 7 when they invaded. It was mid July and i had 2 on intel and 2 on recruit with 10 in hiding. Since it was wierd that the other 5 or 6 regions were hovering between 1 and 4 strength. Maybe i was too late to switch them to hiding or 4 personnel not on hiding was enough to find the haven... Still very fishy... Thanks for the reply though.

@@angelseeker The decision whether you are being invaded happens about a two to four weeks before it actually starts. The corresponding missions (troop transport and invasion) have a very high cliff to even detect - so your 2 intel would have around 0.0X% chance to even detect them. If you recently liberated an area, you can always do some quick math and see if all of the legions have correctly been distributed to adjacent areas. If that has not been the case, it might mean that some legions are on their way back into your area to attack it.

@@SykenPlays ok it could be 2to4 weeks. Yes the 2 on intel were there exactly to get the notification before it happened. Was no biggy at least. Only lost a couple resistance personnel... I left them on intel cause i once got a notification in another region that it was invaded and lost more than half the resistance personnel without the event popping up to help save/defend...

Yes, they have changed the mechanics quite a bit. The HAVEN Management is a core element, which makes LW very much different.

hey yeah! Great thx again Syken for this guide ^^ Just to be sure that i well understand one point: in one region, we can spot 3 to 5 missions in 14 days so, lets say i've spotted 4 missions in 6 days, i can safely put my haven on supply gattering for the next 8 days? Also, you don't talk about the fact that haven's soldier adviser can train operatives to make them gain some ability and trained operatives are better doing their job in haven. And don't forget onece again that up to 13 (not 12) operatives can actively act in haven ^^ :) Waiting for the next episode :)

Hi Maximus, the absolute maximum for each area is 5 missions per 14 days. As you get more regions, this number will increase. If you have already spotted out 4-5 missions and your teams are currently infiltrating them, you can safely put your haven management resources on recruiting (or if you already have the maximum number of haven recruits, you can put them on supplies).

very nice series! i started with xcom 2 after 3 years of pause and then with lwotc. maybe not my best idea,but hey ^^ i`ve made contact with 3 countries so far and then i saw this video, where u tell me i am doing it badly, cause i devided the resistance forces overall like 2 intel,2 supply, 2 recruit etc. how can i fix this? should i hide all in 2 countries and focus intel in one so i get the missions and do them then,swap afterwards to supply and doing full intel at the next one? im a bit confused ^^

How about timing? How soon should one contact a region? liberate one?

General advice would be to contact as soon as possible and start your liberation chain as soon as possible as well. Once you do have 2-3 additional regions, finish the liberation and use it for stable income, as supplies are going to be sparse.

I agree, that is a bit aggravating game design. Some of the mechanics in Long War are specifically designed to be detail oriented and tedious. For many it is a feature and not a bug -.-

How can i liberate the area? The explanation is kinda unclear, please give me some insight im currently playing lwotc and currently in 4-5 months and i haven't liberated any place

I suggest going to the long-war wiki if details are unclear. Basically liberations are 5 missions, which do not need to be consecutive. They trigger once you have a certain force rating in the area. You need to do all 5 of these missions (the last one being the actual alien base), afterwards the area will be liberated. Since you do not have found the missions, I suggest that your intel level might be too low. Try putting 12 resistance operatives on intel, which should spot out all of the missions in the respective area.
