I definitely agree with you. Traxxas should've included dog bones with this Maxx. But Traxxas knows what they're doing and how to make the most money off of these trucks. Can't wait to get your review on this truck now that you got your essential upgrades. Have fun, stay safe and take care.

Traxxas - more than happy to sell you after-purchase "upgrades" that should have been on the truck out-of-the-box given the price of the model. Truly the kings of marketing. And I don't mean that in a complementary way!
@ChaseDecker-z7h Жыл бұрын
Do you need to lubricate the axle cup (not sure what to call it) that is on the side closer to the wheel? If so what do you use? My truck is squeaking and this is the only place I can think its coming from. I have already replaced all the wheel bearings and the differentials should be full of lubricant from the factory so I cant think that they would be squeaking.
@iftibashir Жыл бұрын
yes I like to add a touch of grease inside the axle - not too much though as it can attract dirt!

I know this is an old video, but I thought I would add my comments to make the job easier for those just now seeing the video. You don't have to remove the bumpers to get the suspension arms out of the way to get to the gub screws on the driveshafts. All you do is remove the hinge pin retainer screw through the hole in the bumper; push down on the plastic hinge pin retainer and slide it out from the side of the bumper area; pull the hinge pin with a pair of needle nose pliers; and move the lower suspension arm out of the way. There is now enough room to get to the grub screws on the driveshafts from the bottom of the Maxx. This method works well (I did it yesterday) and it saves a lot of time and effort.

3:07 the drive cup keeps deforming by the dogbone pins. I swear i saw once a video of someone putting on a third party nut that threaded itself onto the drive cup to hold it intact. Anyone knows about that part?

@loverboy2 жыл бұрын
After installing the wide kit and leaving the original plastic drive shafts, they stripped out after a few turns. Basically you have to have the heavy duty drive shaft upgrade if you get the wide kit. $100 for the drive shaft upgrade and still need to buy more : (

Do they make a 10mm wide 17mm hub adapter for the Steel axles? I can't seem to find one. Maybe one for E-Revo? Still need locking screws to hold pins.

Made work hard for yourself. The axle pins can be released with the centre front screw in tie bar. The cap slides up and needle nose the pins out. Don't need to take off chassis plate or skid plate 😁

Yes you could complain about the hubs not being included with the drive shafts, but you didn't really NEED to replace the stock universal drive shafts. If they proved not to hold up, then yes go ahead and spring for the more expensive option.

Tbh the only reason why I just switched to the steel driveshafts was because somehow a few days ago the u joint flew out on one of the plastic shafts and it was hard to find any replacement u joints so I just decided why not put the steel ones on and not have to deal with that issue again🤷♂️
@jasonbrown4673 жыл бұрын
my slash cv axles finally fell apart. since it fell apart on the outer "cv" joint, i learned they are not actually cv. they are just u joints lol. they are well built though as i bashed the crap out of them for years,and they are lighter than some of my other metal axles. it appears the outer boot fell off and maybe it held a pin in place that broke, or went flying and it lost for ever.

Im just wondering why do we change the drive shaft? just for good driving? or something else

The Maxx has extremely weak joints on the stock plastic driveshafts. I've broken 3 of them within the last couple weeks just driving around the farm, no jumps!
@TrueDEATH-ii1kc Жыл бұрын
I was running my maxx v2 pretty hard since I first got it on Thursday and didn't have any issues with the driveshafts other than well somehow losing a damn u joint which I still don't get why it happened but yeah so I just put the steel shafts on and hopefully everything works but haven't tested it yet
