Thank you so much, Auntie Corrie 2, it's wonderful seeing all these old programs. xx

You can buy them on a massive set of dvds from all the decades, quite cheap too for hundreds of eps.

Yep-Hilda’s stepped right into Martha’s shoes, doing exactly what Martha would’ve been doing, helping Minnie with the carpet roll.

Emily-a continued study in anguish.

Good that the Ogdens and Mr Swindley shared scenes together. Stan and Hilda arrived in June and July 1964 and Swindley left the main show in May 1965. Stan and Hilda are at Swindley's non wedding as well.

Great episode - Emily looked beautiful. I would have ended the episode earlier- when he arrived to see her and she said ''Hello Mr Swindley '' before even turning around, just knowing it was him.

I'm sure I recognised the narrator's voice from the children's TV show 'The Herbs' at the Rovers Bar. Gordon Rollings.

Mr Swindley and Emily were very formal, not calling each other by their first names. He never said to her 'call me Leonard' and she never said 'call me Emily'

Emily-the only person who can back out of a wedding, upsetting people, and sound like she’s telling Jack off. “I’m not going, Mr Walker!”

Makes me laugh - they are about to get married and still call eachother Mr Swindley and Miss Nugent 😅

Anyone see any resemblance between Mr Swindley and Emily’s future lodger, Percy Sugden? Bald, glasses, little moustache...wonder if Phyllis (who would be around now) ever met Mr Swindley. “Oo, c’mere. Make me Mrs Phyllis Swindley.”

This is the first of many called off weddings on Coronation street. At least the groom didn't have to climb out the window!
@alexanderjones95724 жыл бұрын
No, the ‘bride’ ruined it by deciding not to turn up. I know a lot of people sympathised with her, but as I said in another comment, I think she was just as cruel here as Christine Appleby was to Frank Barlow -more so, in fact. At least Christine didn’t let Frank wait at the church!

I wish so many episodes weren't missing. I would have liked to see how Emily and Mr. Swindley got together. I can't picture it, for the life of me. Something so unsuitable and utterly unbelievable. On her wedding day, she still calls him Mr. Swindley. Wow!!!! That wedding night would be a true show stopper. Poor Emily. Glad she backed out. Emily's so pretty in her wedding dress, but the hair do and the veil are, like so often on this show, an atrocity. She looks like she's wearing a bandage, on her head, after brain surgery, and the over spilling frizzy hair, along with the tacked on veil, are reminiscent of the Bride of Frankenstein.

I, too, wish I could find all tthe missing episodes. For instance, I'd like to see the ones where Irma Ogden arrived on the Street.

Clearly, you are no au fait with sixties fashion - are you? Look up Princess Margaret’s wedding and you will see some similarities in the hair and veil. And calling husbands ‘Mr’ was exactly what Ena and Minnie did. It wasn’t uncommon then. Once again- we have someone looking at fashions and customs of over fifty years ago though the eyes of today. A little history wouldn’t hurt you, Margaret. 🙄

Why is Emily called Miss Nugent, when everyone else is called by their first names?
@alexanderjones95724 жыл бұрын
Emily saying to Jack about the ‘comical’ side-“Some people laugh when they hear someone’s died.” Who does? Don’t remember anyone laughing over May, Ida or Martha’s deaths- or in real life, come to that! It’d be completely inappropriate!

😂😂😂 Hilda é mais nova que a filha! Essa Nugent é a personagem mais sem sentido da série!

Emily wasn’t that wonderful, was she? Here, she was just as cruel to Mr Swindley as Christine Appleby was to Frank Barlow-doing the exact same thing.
