One way I was taught to prime the oiling system on just about any engine, was to use a common garden sprayer, and fill it with oil. Pump it up til oil is forced through the system under pressure. You can use this trick to prime fuel systems too on some engines, but not all. My experience is with the 855 CI. truck engines but it should work on the smaller ones too.

Have you ever had a Cummins sound like it has a misfire? If so what do you think it is? 99 Dodge 2500 24v

either injector is intermittely working, or you have low compression in one cylinder, or you could have valves that are not sealing.

Why the head studs? The Cummins that year use garbage torque to yield head bolts? I hope the owner of this engine now realizes oil and filters are cheap.

More of a insurance for him with the ARP studs The stock bolts were far from being in specs. 2nd cummins that I have built for him with dirty oil issues
