Will it dry your hair out like regular dye? I been wanting something natural this may be it.
@lovethoselocs4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tasha, henna can be drying - and I find that adding the two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil to the henna mixture helps to combat the dryness. You can also dab some oil on your scalp after you've fully washed out the henna to prevent scalp dryness.

I used the henna yesterday. I added the coffee -it didnt make much difference to the colour. The grey sections of my hair were quite bright. I also used this on my mums hair and her hair was bright orange😊 it was good to experiment though so kow i know.

Sorry to hear the coffee didn't have much effect. I have been adding amla powder instead of coffee to my henna last year and feel it does a better job (new henna video coming soon). The lighter the hair the lighter the henna colour - and this is something I'm noticing more now that the greys are coming through more. And the type of henna can also affect the end colour. Hope this helps.

I use henna but I would like a dark brown color, any suggestions.
@lovethoselocs Жыл бұрын
Hi Roxie - using indigo and henna can provide you with a brown colour. I haven't used indigo myself, but it is a two-step process, and the colour you get will depend on the ratio of indigo to henna. Hope this helps!

Question for you. When you wash your hair normally...do you braid and band you sisterlocks ???
@lovethoselocs Жыл бұрын
Hi there - I do not braid and band when washing my Sisterlocks. I stopped braiding and banding a couple of years ago.

Love this video... and I just hennaed my hair for the 1st time...thanks to you but I have one question how often do you henna or use henna on your sisterlocks? I used adifferent brand of henna then you used. I did not put coffee in mines to darken because I do like that orange reddish tinge. And I'm going to wait to see how it turns out in a day or two but so far so good. I don't think I covered all of my hair as well so therefore I have these patches of white specks in my hair. The second time when I henna I'm going to get someone to help me. I was wondering if I can henna at least 3 months to help strengthen my locs.
@lovethoselocs3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Song James! Great to hear that you've tried henna and that you enjoyed the experience. I use henna around 3 to 4 times per year (and it is fine to use henna regularly), although at the moment I am on a 6-month break while I test amla oil to see how it affects grey hair. If you make more henna the next time around and apply it generously all over, you'll catch those spots you missed this time around.

Hi did you henna dry unwashed hair? That will definitely make my life easier as I thought I have to wash my hair first.
@lovethoselocs4 жыл бұрын
Hi Nsecret Loveth - I always apply henna to dry, unwashed hair so that I'm not over-washing my hair or pulling delicate wet strands with henna paste. And it certainly makes life easier doing it that way too.

Can I use this on Sisterlocs that are 4months old
@lovethoselocs4 жыл бұрын
Hi LoveyLoc Bivens - thank you for your question. I would wait until you reach the 6-month mark, provided you don't have a lot of slippage. I applied henna the day before my establishment and then again at the 6-month mark and it worked well. Please also take a look at the henna playlist for extra tips. I hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

I put henna on my Sisterlocks & I'm sure there is some left on my hair. Even though the water was clear, I'm not sure what to do.
@lovethoselocs3 жыл бұрын
Hi Diamond Reese. Sorry to hear this. After rinsing out the henna until the water runs clear, massage some diluted shampoo into your Sisterlocks and scalp and rinse. You can do this again and rinse thoroughly. Be sure to massage your hair and scalp while you rinse and squeeze the Sisterlocks gently. I find this gets all the henna out, even when I have used a lot of henna.

Hi I applied the henna but it did take to the hair, don't know what am doing wrong.
@lovethoselocs3 жыл бұрын
Hi - thanks for your message. I found that it took at least a couple of applications initially for the henna to 'take' when I used it for the very first time. It'll show up more readily on lighter coloured hair or on grey hair. For hair that is naturally very dark/black, it will take a few applications, and the henna colour will be more subtle, for example, you may notice hints of colour in the sunlight :-) How readily the colour takes also depends on how long the henna mixture is left on the hair (after the lawsone dye has been released into the wet henna mixture). Try leaving it on for 4-5 hours before rinsing out fully. Hope this helps!

Thanks I'll try that 👍🏾

Hi can you share the brand of henna and color that you used ? Lovely warm color on you.
@lovethoselocs3 жыл бұрын
Hi Anaya - thank you! The henna I've used is: 'It's Pure Certified Organic Henna Powder'. I've dropped a link in the description. I've been using this brand and this same henna powder for years. It's henna powder without any other colorants added, so it gives a rich reddish/brownish hue with hints of orange.
