If this fails, will the car stall? I have an 06' Maxima and I've had 3 different mechanics change things because the car wouldn't start. They changed the spark plugs, ignition coils, both valve covers and valve cover gaskets, pcv valve, both camshaft sensors, the crankshaft sensor, the O2 sensor, and now the fuel pump. I'm broke paying these guys and car still won't start. What should I do? It starts like once after each new install then immediately cuts off, never starting again, only cranking. Now I believe the battery has gone bad.

Sorry for your complications. No the fuel pressure regulator/dampener on this setup would only delay the start. The dampener fail would allow pressure to leak down in the fuel line so it would require a few extra seconds of cranking before the fuel pump primed the system again. I would consider looking into your antitheft system. Sometimes if it doesnt see the correct key it will shut the fuel system/injectors/fuel pump/and or spark down to avoid being stolen

I got a 05 Nissan Altima the car will start then dies right away I changed the solenoid and camshaft sensor didn’t work then my mechanic told me it was the fuel pressure regulator causing the issue

Brian I also have a 05 Murano it had a ticking sound when idle I changed the fuel dampener and the sound went away. Now with my 06 Maxima it seems like I have that smell and I also get a P1058 which could be rich mixture but will this fix also get rid of that ticking or could it be something else?

The ticking could be a few things but i dont think its likely the dampener. The p0158 code is a o2 sensor. The dampener i replaced in the video leaked and we could smell gas under the hood, also it can cause the vehice to start less and less quickly. I would start with the o2 sensor first.

Brian,I'm having problems with my 2004 maxima.I've replaced the fuel pump and I'm still not able to get any fuel from the tank to the engine.I've disconnected the lines from the pump to make sure the pump is working and it checked out fine.I've blown out the fuel lines and still there's no fuel coming through.I need your help.

I know you've probably checked the fuel filter so i wont ask. Did you check for pressure up front under the hood? I had an issue once and found the vehicle factory thefr deterrent was disabling the fuel injection system. I guess start with the pressure up front. Also id the fuel pump was plumbed in backwards u wouldnt see pressure.

Thanks definitely no leaking gas around dampener the lean smell is coming from the exhaust I actually changed the O2. Sensor code comes on Sparingly ,after hundreds of miles not sure what's wrong.

Have a 05 maxima, changed a bad fuel pump. Now my car won't start, it turns over but no start. Changed the fuel pump relay fuse, battery, alternator. Dont know what else to check

More than likely no. Fuel pressure regulator on this vehicle is designed to regulate the pressure. Cold start yes not so much warm or hot because the pressure should still be in the fuel lines.

Michael it could but not likely. p0300 is a random misfire code. I guess if the fuel pressure dampener fails it could cause fluctuations in fuel pressure which in return may cause a misfire but I would start by checking the plugs looking for the plug or plugs that stand out from the rest.
