I just bought the whole Hub assembly with the bearing. Makes things a lot easier.

Why not just have lowered the engine and taken it out by way of the bottom instead and saved yourself the trouble of removing all that extra stuff by jacking the engine down just the front half

IS IT EVEN WORTH THE HASSLE ? ON A OLD DODGE DURANGO PIECE OF JUNK
@brianschweinert55256 ай бұрын
If the vehicle isnt worth it just cut the heater core hoses and run a stand alone heater core fan assembly and screw it to the bottom of the dash. Its a much faster and cheaper option.

I believe the same part is used in 05(mk1) Hyundai santa fe. A lot of their components are used on both models. If I remember correctly, Hyundai owns Kia ( or vise versa).

man I don't have enough words to thank you. I've been trying to understand why this mechanical aberration doesn't align the marks. I followed your tip and how magically everything went to its right place. I would like to give you 1000 likes. Thank you very much and God bless you.

Hello, thanks for taking the time to do the vid. I tried to do your technik but I finally decided to go the traditionnal way. Just wanted to say, the traditionnal way was much easier for me than trying your technique. Get the batterie out (1 x 13mm bolt - easy), pull out the air box (easy), uncover the engine mount under the battery tray and undo a small metal plate (2 x 13mm bolts- easy), loosen the driver side motor mount (2 nuts 3/4 of the way out- easy). Then you can lift the trans enough and easily. Done

Sorry, looks like you destroyed the hub and most of the rest of the vehicle"
@brianschweinert55253 жыл бұрын
Lol... yup because every repair is always as smooth as butter. And its most important to reuse rusty old parts... 🤣👍 most mechanics replace the hub and bearing if they come in a set anyway. Come on man! Dont be cheap! Time is money and it'll save them more in labor than the cost of a few parts. Paying more for labor but reusing old parts doesn't seem like a good deal to me...
@minnesota-boston96203 жыл бұрын
Oh, attacking hub is not correct and you got a nightmare. Try to find out diagram from service manual, etc. It is not so difficult with proper tools.
@brianschweinert55253 жыл бұрын
Its pretty self explanatory cv axle exits out the back, hub and bearing come outward. Why do u need a diagram? You can not remove the hub and bearing without removing the axle. Sometimes "the proper tools" dont work and you just have to use heat and hammers. You are not a real mechanic if nothing never goes wrong and you dont have to resort to plan b, c, d, etc. This video was to explain that these axles can fuse inside the hub and Sometimes, just Sometimes you gotta heat it up and beat the crap out of it.

I have a 04 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WE CHANGED THE water pump and timing belt we used the same one cuz it looked in pretty good shape. We put it back together and it starts and runs just fine. When you go give it gas it cuts out falls on its face and sputtering let off the gas and ease into it slowly and it will go . But you have to go really slow. Took it to auto zone and it throws codes p0016 and p0113 and p0132. So what do I need to do to reset my timing
@brianschweinert55253 жыл бұрын
There is no reset that im aware of. Sounds like your timing is off. Be careful reusing timing belts, they do stretch. Its too much a job to really not do the belt but if i had to guess... I'd say bad timing.

so I have the pump off on a 2000 sebring convertible. Did timing belt water pump. this car has tested my ****. well am trying to put pump back in. we pulled it out with front bracket attached not sure how . believe it was last thing removed before timing belt cover. more room So now it is the last thing to go back on. from the bottom with bracket on is a no go. with bracket off get pump into space but replacing bracket is also a problem with limited space. what is the trick? Brian
@brianschweinert55253 жыл бұрын
There's really no trick. Just patience, dexterity, lots of cuss words, and just finding the correct angle. Also try jacking the motor just a little few extra mm's might make all the difference.
@debbieshepherd40623 жыл бұрын
thank you, was nervouse about messing up the timing and thus the motor, now feel much more confident. i do have those same parts. all i needed was to have to call someone to come save my butt. lol

20 years as a semi truck mechanic and this job is a pain in the ass. I have the hidden bolt behind the trans tube. A novice might take all weekend to change it. Got the dash out and I'm pissed I now have to evacuate and recharge a working AC system. Shop rate to do this is nearly what the trucks worth!
