88 Fingers Louie! Dude, sometime around 1995 or 96 I bought an 88 Fingers Louie CD from a pawn shop in Kittanning Pennsylvania for $1. It was my introduction to independent punk rock, and it opened up a whole new world to me. Changed my entire life for the better. Haha, I was just looking for different perspectives on pick slides and happened to click on this video not knowing who you were. Thanks man.

Better description of how to hold the pick than some of the other demos I saw on KZbin. Nobody mentions about how much distortion is best for the slide.... Glad you showed how to stay away from the frets when you slide... Cheers!

Thanks for the lesson dude. Traci Gunns does a nice pick slide then comes back at it from the head and makes it sound like loading a shot gun then firing, but didn’t show how to do it. It’s on one of his KZbin channels on riff lords I think and the riff is from “ one more reason, check it out then maybe you can show us how he does it. Thanks man love your channel

Thanks for this, i play a song where i do a pick slide but i move the pick across the strings (i do 2) with the tip and apply it as if i was putting icing on a cake instead of like you if you can picture what i mean. Your way has more grit which I like! I'm going to try it next time we practice.

I don't know anything about electric so this may be a dumb question, but wouldn't this damage the strings?
@DanPrecision6 жыл бұрын
Pick scrapes will barely damage the strings. In my opinion, you'd get just as much damage from simply playing. It's definitely not a concern of mine.
@unsubscribe_kye6 жыл бұрын
Dan Precision Okay cool. Thanks so much.

The answer is yes. Strings tend to explode in a centrifugal fashion, resulting into immediate death for the player. It explains the high death rate amongst rockstars.

not really the best technique especially when you have to play immediately after and you find that your pick is upside down and to the side.
@DanPrecision6 жыл бұрын
That is exactly why I do my pick scrapes with the point facing up. That way, for example, if I'm scraping on the low E and A strings, and go right into a downward strum, I can hit those strings without even lifting the pick off those strings. If you are scraping with the point of the pick facing down, you really can't strum right into the lowest strings, unless you are picking upwards. Anyway, this is just my favorite technique, but it doesn't mean it will work for you. Good luck!
