Let's see.................. Jo walks many, MANY miles and does most of the lock work. Michael does one or two locks AND gets back on board between them! Come on Mike, you need to start doing the dog walk! We need to see more of Jo running the boat! And that last shot at the very end of George was a total classic!!! No wonder you are always filling your water tank!
@MinimalList6 жыл бұрын
I did quite a few more than just two locks, to be fair! But she'll be driving a lot more, and me walking more, as soon as I can find some non-leaky shoes again! M

The other thing I like about how your present your Vlog is the use of Fast Motion while the Boat is in motion, as it allows us to appreciate where you have been, than you sit and do the FireSide Chat so to speak. It makes for a much more intimate journey, as if we are there with you for the experience. This is sadly lacking by so many other Vloggers as they miss the point a Vlog is a personal journey, you want to share, You are not a presenter who delivers the latest news and moves on to introduce a commercial on the latest new and improved soap.

MJ&G (Michael, Jo & George: the other thing you bring out is the vast mix of type of boats in the community, Steam, Old Single Cylinder vs the modern Diesel and Electric Powered boats.The Latter, and All Electric Boat while possible requires a lot of serious planning and design work before the base plate is laid down. I have studied the concept and it needs to be done from the first pencil dot on paper to the last drop of paint for it to work effectively. The potential is there, it may well be a sizeable investment but the potential rewards are huge especially for the full time live aboard people.

Hurrah! Jo and Michael are back from the iced-in veggie stove top cooking wilderness. Welcome back. By the way, I'm glad you went back to Coventry Basin, and it's now appeared in at least three of your videos. It's one of my favourite places on the canal network and just about the only thing of merit south of Hawkesbury Junction on the Coventry. Unfortunately, I didn't make myself popular when I was there last. Realising I would need to turn, I made a pig's ear of winding in the triangular bit where the two arms join the main canal, and 'touched' the coping stones along the edge of the basin in front of the shops there, with the bow. Didn't look like I was the first to have done it though, but that's no excuse.

Wow ... you made that stretch of the world seem interesting, I'm genuinely impressed given it's roughly my neck of the woods! Have to give it to George... that last shot was impressive. My previous GSD didn't look that bad after falling into what was nothing less than a stagnant swamp! You may want to consider a strainer on your plug hole before the pump gets utterly lynched by (lets hope its mostly) dog hair!
@MinimalList6 жыл бұрын
There's a strainer, plus a filter on the pump ... which we have to clean after every wash. M

Do you wash the outside of the boat often? Painting ? Maint ? What about other chores to keep the boat ,, day in the life ??? Bluetugtuna seattle
@MinimalList6 жыл бұрын
There's a lot of chores once it's not deeply and uncomfortably freezing cold! There's rust to treat and prime and paint, lots to clean. It's not that sensible to wash the boat except one side at a time (whichever side is to the shore) unless it's quite warm and the weather's unlikely to turn again. The main thing is the rust. M

Question,l would like to know,do pay for one week at a time,or pay monthly on a typical marina site,too moor up your narrowboat,when you are cruising on your journey along the canal system,do you have to pay on the 14 day and 2 day mooring,addiction to that,are there Free moorings spots along the canal,would there be mooring posts,or do you use mooring pins to secure your boat to the bank,
@MinimalList5 жыл бұрын
Most of the canal-side moorings on the CRT’s system are free to stay at. The same is true for most, but not all, non-CRT waterways. Within city or council-owned basins where there are sometimes fees, like in Llangollen and at Ellesmere Port, and for instance along the Thames there are towns which have mooring fees, while EA mooring points are usually free for 24 hours and have a charge after that. In other words it changes everywhere but is generally no charge. Typically where there are marked visitor moorings (usually 48 hour) there are mooring rings or bollards, most everywhere else you use pins or what are called nappie pins or a chain. M

Guns and Roses - M, are you a big music fan? Don't recall you mentioning music before.
@MinimalList6 жыл бұрын
I would say that I WAS a big music fan, but that to a certain extent I've grown up to be embarrassed by what my young self thought was good. My older self is a little less inclined to music... too much of it tries too hard to invoke an emotional response, often one I'm not particularly prone too anymore. Plus no one seems to get my thing for cover tunes by Marilyn Manson of John Lennon. M
@FrazzledPup6 жыл бұрын
Minimal List I say tell your older self to get over it. :-) Some of my first loves were Fastway, W.A.S.P. and Queensryche and they still get occasional play. But I also like newcomers like Archie and The Bunkers and nearly all the material that Dap-Tone records puts out. Bet you a whole dollar you'd like a lot of the Dap stuff. Some of which is instrumental, like the Sugarman 3 and the Whitefield Bros... Good to work by, no lyrics to steal focus
@stevenmorehouse80876 жыл бұрын
Is that what that was?? lol. I couldn't quite make it out on my crappy phone. My best guess was "Cotton Eye Joe"

How are you supposed to see anything if you speed up the video ?
@MinimalList Жыл бұрын
We don't speed up the video, we film it as time-lapse footage. We do not have the battery capacity or data storage to film in real time as our cruises can last up to 7 or 8 hours. We use to the time-lapse footage to help tell the story of movement rather than showcase the scenery. We limit the amount of time-lapse shots we use in each vlog.
