05-09 Nissan Murano 3.5L timing chain replacement

This is the first gen of the VQ35DE 3.5L engine. There is lots of 3.5L engines out there and they are very similar when it comes to timing chains.

How do you time the 3.5l if the timing chain was moved?I checked visually and found 2 bent valves in no. 6 cylinder.

If it’s already removed there should be the timing marks in there. If you follow my instructions you should be able to get it right. If there are bend valves take your cylinder head to a machine shop.

Thank you, I bought the Nissan from my neighbor he had someone trying to put in a timing kit from cloyes .He gave up and left all of the parts in the back end on cardboard.I will take time to check everything out to see what else is bad.the head I sent out already.

Dang i need the same thing done to my murano. Its a 2007! About how much does this cost?

@@antonioaguirre6166Only problem is thats about 1/2 the price for a decent running Gen1 Murano. If you're handy, its worth it if the engine/trans are good. Main problem is the oil control rings are almost always clogged up once you hit 100K unless you are big on 93 octane or running some PEA in the fuel often. If the engine is out, might as well pull the heads and replace the rings or do a serious piston soak.

@@boots7859 I haven’t had too many problems with them. After new timing chains and new valve covers they run good again for at least another 100k miles with proper maintenance
