We jump into some of the popular options for the Ford Mustang. Granted not every option on the table is available for every iteration of the Mustang from 2004, but there's a large overlap.
This is an introductory talk about expectations on these dampers, we dont dive into coilover options in this video, but will in future videos - let us know which coilovers you're interested in feedback from.
Some of these options dont exist for the Shelby and Cobra models of the Mustang, you're likely stuck with Bilstein and Koni and above.

Do you mean 05 to 2022 shocks are interchangable? Based on the title?

What’s a better set to go with for a daily driver Eibach pro damper or the new Koni special active? And which would you pair with a lowering spring of 1inch drop all around?

We would run the Full Eibach kit. So the Pro Damper under 1 x E60-35-029-01-22 and then their 1" drop kit under 1 x 35145.140.

@@ShockSurplus what if you don’t run with a lowering spring would you still run the eibach pro dampers over the Koni special active? Just curious because I have the base ecoboost and want to get rid of the wheel gap and can’t decide on meatier tires and shocks or the lowered way…. Your thoughts?

Personal preference. I own a 2014 Scion FRS or Toyota 86 and I didn't want to do struts or lowering springs. I ran coilovers instead to get me low but also wanted some rebound adjustment. I had run Fortune Auto 500 which was firm but they handle it so well and had rebound adjustment. I'm now currently on KW V3 which feels so much better but costs 2-3 times the amount of my previous setup. These have rebound and compression adjustments. I'm almost dialed in. to how I like it.

@@ShockSurplus one more question for you, in the video you say that the koni, bilstein will get up to 100k miles on them before having to be changed. What are the life expectancy on the eibach ?

@@ShockSurplus so I can find the dampers at the right numbers but can only find the springs with these specs. Eibach 35147.140 would this suffice?

What about steeda pro active

They are basically the same as the Koni Special Active Reds which actually do a heck of a job of improving ride and handling over stock. They may not be quite as tight around a corner as something like the Bilstein B6 or B8, but they are also more comfortable and probably easier to live with.

compared to what? B8 - yes, b12 - yes, Koni - no, eibach - no. At least in our experience.

It really depends on what you're trying to do. Simple stock replacement or want to get the vehicle lowered and etc. There are different parts for different application and usage. My name is Nick and I own a 2014 Scion FRS or Toyota 86. I daily this vehicle and currently running KW V3 coilovers.

Shocks generally last 50 to 100k kms. Best to change out the shocks earlier rather then later, so that other suspension components don't wear as quick either. Shocks do so much work, that's its often misunderstood, or not realised how much they do actually do.

As an Aussie mechanic that's fitted most of these brands, I refuse to fit peddars. We've seen them break, leak out of the box and fail within a few thousand kms, and peddars refuse warranty. Monroe have cheaped out and die soon after warranty. Buy OEM or KYB for standard, and Bilstein for upgrades. Rarely ever see issues with this. Eibach makes good stuff, never heard a bad issue.

It's a case by case but some brands are better than others with various aspects. We are a fan of KYB, Bilstein, and Eibach as well. Eibach as proven to be more impressive than we thought.

@Shock Surplus I'm tempted to look further into eibach myself for my s550. Had bilstein under all my cars, and that's after spending thousands on brands like shockworks, MCA, and other various high end offerings. They're just so rock solid. But peddars, I've seen them literally separate, and snap at the welds. They're not what they used to be 20 years ago.
