A lot of people say it's the pins that seize but that's never been the case for my 06. It's always been the pistons seizing - they'll work well for a while and then as soon as it sits for a couple of weeks, they stick. They do move a bit, but not much. Thought it might have been the flexible hose but apparently not

I drove my 2004 F250 SuperDuty, bought used all over Florida from 2011 to 2016 including very numerous immersions in salt water when launching a boat. I never had any problems. Then I moved to Washington State including driving the truck towing about 6500lbs over mountain passes with no issues. Then and after year 3 in Washington, the rear brake calipers siezed. I had them replaced by a local shop with lots of 6.0 experience. About a year later one siezed again and I had them replace them again. Now the passenger side rear is sticking once more. It looks like a brake kit from SSBC is a out $1500 for just the rears. I haven 't researched SSBC but if they are legit then maybe it will be about $3500 to bring the brakes up to snuff if I do the work myself. I'm starting to think a bout replacing the vehicle. I take lots of trips deep down forest roads and into the mountains. There is no cell coverage down these roads. I doubt Triple A is going to agree to drive in to get it if the brakes sieze in the backcountry so that tow would probably cost thousands. I thought I was done with the madness after I went through the bulletproofing of the 6.0 but now it looks like I"m into another Ford nightmare. Also, the hardware for the doors on my extended cab failed and I had to open them up and replace disintegrating plastic with aftermarket aluminum. All vehicles do suck

The biggest problem I have encountered on these, over and over, is crappy parts in the manufacture of remanufactured calipers. The piston boots ALLOW moisture into the bore, and rust up the the metal outside the pressure seal, under the boot. These also seem to warp from excessive heat build up. Have yet to see the pads getting rust locked before the caliper....

My 09 had terrible problems with calipers - burned up the first front one 5 months after I bought it new. Drivers side went the next year. Had the both fronts completely replaced under warranty then one of the rears stuck. They drained and flushed the system was good for about 2 years and started happening again.

You're the 5th video I watched today I have the problem existing towards your video.... I'm a person that likes to invent ideas to help troubleshoot than easier fix.. my name is Joe I'm from Bridgeport Connecticut and I am blue collar until the day I die and I would but for people to watch my video that I will put up tomorrow of the easy fix maybe? Solution? Of what I will attempt before buying a new caliper and we will test the process before installing it on the truck... Stay tuned people I think I might be onto something with social media in the quick fix being the last common denomination of videos that show how to fix or troubleshoot the scenarios and that can come from a to z be about cooking could be about stereos could be about tree-climbing could be about roofing could be about making your bed in the morning that's how my mind works I'm always looking for a quick fix to make something easier for the next human being.

i have a 2008 super duty, rear caliper on drivers side has froze up twice,i went with slotted and drilled rotors and not the phenolic calipers and knock on wood 2 years later still good, with that said, also replace the hose with it,have heard they can deteriorate inside and start to come apart clogging up also every other oil change or depending on your driving habits ie. pulling a trailer, a lot of stop and go driving, down hill braking etc. bleed the brakes to push out the old fluid and i also use a full synthetic brake fluid

I know its a old vid but, what i did was pulled one of the fuses for the ABS. That stopped it. There are 3 fuses. Only have to pull one of the large ones. The little 10amp or 11amp one has the speedo running through it. So pull one of the large 60amp (or whatever it was) out.

The answer to this problem is SSBC V8 brakes system front and back. Totally worth it!! All Super Duty and Excursion factory brake systems suck. They cant handle much rust and heat which is exactly what they have to do.

Update for my comment below. The brand new calipers (Autozone) are sticking again. I do have new hoses for it but before installing them, I checked the behavior: pressed the brakes hard, calipers pretty tight, used screwdrivers to pry the caliper to retract, so it's not the hoses, and the fact that I can retract them with force means they're not stuck. I did that about twenty times to see if they'd free up, which they didn't really. I think what happens is that without constant use, they just get sticky. It seems to me that if I got liners put in the caliper bores, e.g. stainless, they might not stick as easily.

Here I am at 110K and I have to do it again. First time both Rights went. This time LR and RF were showing high temps verses the other 2. close to 300*F RF and 250*LR. others were around 170*F. Just changed Pads and rotors and it started almost immediately. Absolutely stupid. And they want 70K for new truck LMAO what a joke.
