Hot Rod magazine trick. I put the end of the clear hose in a jar half full of brake fluid. Only brake fluid gets sucked back in. The air bubbles float out to the top of the brake fluid in the jar not back into the brake system. I just keep pumping until clear fluid fills the jar. Not a single bubble of air will be in the brake system after tightening the bleed screw. It was a one-man simple trick in Hot Rod.

What I learned. It helps to put the jar near the bleed screw. I use a brick before setting it on top. A long piece of tubing might fall out. Air gets back in. I don't want to make a video on how they did it. Give it a try.

As long as the threads on the bleeder screws don't leak air. Some do some don't.

Related to the pad fitment. Did you notice of the new caliper had enough anti seize on it ? I just did front brake job on my F250, and found the caliper was a reman, and the anti seize added during reman. Was not enough to allow the slide pins to slide out of the way. I pulled them. Applying a few dabs and worked the pins to ensure good function. I also noticed the retention clips that came with the caliper were not correct. Luckily the pads came with very good retention clips. Just wanted to share info in case anyone else runs into this problem.

Just a question I’m curious what your answer will be when you put new calipers on why didn’t you let them gravity bleed I find it to be quicker and easier to get all the air out just a question in curiosity I feel nobody knows at all I am always up to learning something different.

Gravity bleed isn't approved method to get all the air out, some have had success doing it... But there might be some air still in that system although they still have brake function

I had the exact same fitment issue with AC Delco brake pads on my wife’s 2014 Silverado. Had to grind them a little so they could slide.

Interesting. Wouldn't expect that from ACDelco. 🤔

Can anyone confirm the pushing the brake peddle trick at 1 min? Not sure how slightly depressing the brake peddle would help reduce / stop free flow. I am about to change a caliper, since I have never changed a caliper, I will try it, but curious if it actually does anything.

Yes, it does work.

If there was that much air in the system did you end up bleeding all of the lines? I was under the assumption of if you're going to bleed 1 you bleed all 4 so the air doesn't go somewhere else. Then again when I do brakes I do all 4. I know it's a waste of money but tires and brakes are the thing I don't mind blowing the money on.
@DS-TRUCKS2 жыл бұрын
Probably not a bad idea to do all four. We are rescheduling to do the rest. Got good break function just with the fronts tho. Was it a time crunch getting ready for snow.

nice vid, so i tried this had an issue bleeding at the end of the process and never had this issue before and realized my bleed ports are on the bottom, noticed most on top. so i must have them on backwards from the proper sides.is this an issue? i believe it is my issue.

Mine is leaking on the caliper & where the hose meet, I see the bolt copper gasket, does it suppose to have a gasket somewhere else?
@natem3152 Жыл бұрын
There should be 2 copper gaskets/washers and a specific torque value. I had a leak until it was tightened down enough
