Hi Jimbo, I’m based here in Qld but I’ve been really struggling when it comes to amber lights. I either speed up and rush through or end up slamming on the brakes. Do you have any tips or ways to help? (Judgement and timing) Thanks

Hi Jeff you need to practice working out the point where you are too close to stop safely. Practice and experience will get you better at this. Just a few moments before this point cover your brake so you are ready. If you get to the point where it's too close then back on the accelerator. Always remember if there is a truck or another car very close behind you then just go through the yellow.

Hey Jimbo If I'm the first car at the red sitting in the middle lane with two cars (possibly bigger than the one I'm in) on either side, a head check from that static position wouldn't allow me to see the crossroad. What to do in that case? Should we roll forward a wee bit (it's green already) and then do the head check before we drive off? Please advise. Thanks a ton!

When the light goes green just look left and right. The examiner is only marking head movement not that you are actually seeing something. In real life just carefully move off and check both sides until you can see nothing is coming through.
