Who ever thought this was a coherent tool? Seriously. They made this and thought, "yeah, they'll totally love it"

I guess it was the same guy who decided that the whole program was going to be constructed from the perspective of a canvas and the 3d models are only tools to be aplied on that canvas... I really dont undertand how this became an indutry standard... but here we are...

More like, “Yeah, they’ll totally have to suffer with this device...until we get enough complaints that we finally break down and give them a tool that isn’t the equivalent of using a Rubics Cube to just move and scale stuff.”

Going from Maya to Zbrush it's so completely different, it's like it was designed by aliens not as intuitive to use as Maya, but man I love what it can do.

Really thaks for doing this video and letting me know that I dont have to learn to use that horrible anti intuitive transformation system ever. And thanks to the zbrush guys who decided to put the gizmo.

cool tip: if you select the transpose tool, hold the shift key and enter in the konami code it finishes your model for you

Gosh why does zbrush always make things complicated unlike other programs if you move this arrow to that specific direction it works, this one is like IQ 9000 gizmo tool
@MichaelPavlovich4 жыл бұрын
people with low IQs can use the default gizmo, which luckily is on...by default! You kind of have to go out of your way to use transpose at this point, check out video 43 in this series to lower your IQ to the basement: kzbin.info/aero/PLkzopwqcFevbxxNfZtq1ae09h1dht4S6M

I have to use ALT left-lick to position the gizmo. Left-clicking as shown here switches back to the standard brush and takes me out of move/edit/scale mode, it does not snap to the surface normal otherwise.

I didn't know L.Sym meant local symetry. I thought that button on top of it changed object space to world space rotations, like in maya. zBrush is a great interface mess, my god.. Still love it to death though! :D Amazing how much I hate and love zBrush at the same time! lol It took me a year before I finally learnt to scale things locally!!

Pretty sure the scale and rotate "anchor" ring just flips it to the other side, then it works like normal. Move is the only one that has a special effect with the clipping thing.

Is there any reason for me to use this awful tool instead of the standard 3d gizmo?
@AS-ym2bp4 жыл бұрын
This doesn't get in the way since it's less congested than the gizmo. Besides that pretty much nothing.

Can you help me? I saw that transpose let do kinda extrusion. Like if use Ctrl + Shift + mouse and if I have move mode. So in video all can use it but when I try it to do in zbrush, my model just don't extrude.. What problem and how to do extrusion???
@eRodriguezART4 жыл бұрын
Great video Michael. Alot of useful information. The transpose tool can be use as a measuring device (and proprotion comparision) by using 'calibration distance' and 'set units' buttons. Is there a way to save the set units so that you can have multiple units save and quickly switches between them and/or if you restart zbrush you dont have to manually 'set units' again. If not, is there an alternative method?
@MichaelPavlovich4 жыл бұрын
Ooof good question...my knee jerk reaction would be to see if Preferences > store config would at least store your current transpose units for a set startup, but i'm not positive that's the case (and I don't see an option for saving/loading transpose anything in the preferences). I suppose you could save individual projects that are scaled to certain parameters (check out scale master if you haven't yet kzbin.info/www/bejne/jl6toqWvg8tsrsk ) and you'll be able to at least switch projects with certain scene scales...but that wouldn't really solve the transpose units thing, since I don't believe those settings are saved per project (although if they are, there's a semi-solution)

Ever since I downloaded 2021 my zbrush transpose tool has been acting really strangely. it won't do anything. it just kind of squishes and tears apart the mesh of really any 3D item I try and use it on. At first I thought I had something to do with the new cloth Dynamics but you didn't mention anything about it so now I'm not so sure. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm on 2021.1.2 as of this writing, and transpose (both transpose cloth and regular) seem to be working as intended? I guess I'd have to see what it's doing, nothing out of the ordinary on my machine
