Thanks for posting Ben. I rebuilt the BGRA in my '06 Odyssey thanks to you. First and only one I've ever done. Advice for others like me. I'll start with tools - 38mm socket, from Autozone $15. Quality torque wrench capable of 10ftlbs, harbor freight $175. Cheapest hand press $75 harbor freight. I picked up the Transtar master overhaul kit-$200, main filter -$15, cooler filter- $10 new sprag -$65, full set friction and steels-$200, Transgo Honda HK lube kit -$45, and torque converter -$130. I didn't need all the friction and steels, but I was ready with everything start to finish. Misc- brake cleaners, B12 cleaner, lint free towels, 8.3 quarts of valvoline max-life. Small drill mounted wire bore brush for small solenoid ports and 3ish inch for cleaning ground wire locations. A large metal tray typically for oil changes comes in handy. Don't forget dental picks for o-rings. Take your time, rewatch the videos carefully before reinstall to assure all is absolutely correct. The sprag was kinda tricky, it's not in this 3 part series. Helpful Hints - disconnect completely steering u-joint from inside vehicle floorboard - set aside. Heat exhaust manifold bolts till glowing red- hot for easy removal. Lubricate rubber exhaust hangars for easy removal. Disconnect power steering tube from top. Assembly grease makes a cleaner work area and easy assembly- just my opinion. Oven cleaner and a high pressure sprayer for heavy buildup - blowdry immediately. Paranoid, I dis assembled and reassembled 3 full times till I was confident I had everything perfect, all rings seated, and no stone left unturned. One last detail, the 8 little torque converter bolts are 8.7 ft lbs. I've driven 100 miles so far, no CEL nor leaks. Shifting smooth.

Your vids are the absolute best for a novice weekend mechanic that is preparing to tackle a honda 5 speed rebuild. Very detailed with lots of helpful tips and tricks to do a perfect rebuild. I have a 2001 acura cl with 150k on it that I just bought from copart with bad tranny. Thanks for the info. Perfect description. Could you please reply with the name of the manufacturer that has the individual marked bag of o-rings that you used.

Nice video, step by step. Keep up the good work, Sir. Just one thing maybe I miss it. What is the part number on that rebuild kit? For that 06 transmission, thank you again for your video.

Hey Ben, which rebuild kit would you recommend for 08 Acura TL 3.2L, has label BDGA? also you mentioned you always replace torque converter when you're rebuilding tranny. Which torque converter would you use for this transmission, and where to get it from? Thanks!

@@bensautorepair9914 Is there a specific company to get the torque converter from? I see there are multiple options for the H021 torque converter.

@@bensautorepair9914 Do you think I can reuse my torque converter or should I just replace it? The van is being stubborn about going into drive/d3/2/1, but once it's in gear it pulls just fine. Reverse doesn't have any problems.

This is my first time seeing a transmission worked on. Pretty mesmerizing. Will this walkthrough work on a 07 Ody Touring transmission?

Long as it has the same transmission code yes Towards the end of 2007 they started putting the p36 transmission in them Honda Odysseys and they had more problems than earlier models sad to say about 80% of them are not rebuildable

I just watched this start to finish. I love the methodical way you move through the process...no hurry and giving good info all along the way. I watched a lot of repair videos and so many, even high-tech flashy stuff, doesn't impart the information we are looking for in as usable of a format as yours do. You are basically offering an excellent course in rebuild right here! I have a question (which led me to watch this). My 2016 Odyssey just "slipped" or something a couple days ago, making two "clunks" that were pretty loud. I was close to home so I parked it since. After reading a bunch of forum stuff, so many people said a similar problem was connected to a bad 3rd gear pressure switch, that I have ordered one and intend on putting it in soon. However, you seem to have a heck of a lot of knowledge about these things, so..what's your take? Am I wasting my time and I'm going to need a rebuild or is there a reasonable chance the new pressure switch will be the fix? I only have 72000 miles on the van and never drove it hard. Thanks; your videos are valuable!

Think you for your comment sorry for the long delay on response we are in the process of moving shop locations.... Meanwhile on the 2016 Odyssey thay had lots of value body issues as they introduced the six-speed automatic transmission later going to the 8 speed.. Lucky they moved the valve body assembly with solenoid assembly to outside of transmission... I recommend changing the whole solenoid assembly.. along with fluid flush..

you mentioned the trans got hot. is there such thing as if it gets to hot the trans can be beyond repair? like a warping head when they get hot? im just curous bc i ran my shit 10 miles or so down the highway without any high gears when it went til i could get to my exit where i called a tow. i didnt want to pull over on 95south.. im wondering if its beyond repair and i should find another one to rebuild. it still moves in m driveway right now.

I've seen them get so hot the valve body was welded together drums cracked the seals was MIA That usually happens if a cooler line blows off or cooler is clogged up

How much do you actually charge to fix a honda odyssey transmission I have a 2008 honda odyssey ex-l. I haven't had a problem I'm just asking. At the moment I'm having the engine swap out at 133, 000 miles. It was completely my fault bought a counterfeit timing belt
@bensautorepair99142 жыл бұрын
If you catch it early if it's slipping to 3rd or Suddering going a second you can get away for 2k but if it quits pulling all together you looking at 2600$.. It's very hard for me to give a price quote because every transmission has its problems I got one on table right now that it got so hot the valve body cracked..

At 22 minis . The Video was missing the procedure of how to put two check balls into the 1st and 2nd accumulators housing . There are three holes under the triangle bracket which is a little confuse for people who first time do the rebuild.
