I am still unclear as to how FD-is-an-MVD proof is complete. The professor has proved that v[B] = u[B], but how about v[rest] = u[rest] which is the final requirement of an MVD?

In the venn diagram, it should be rather opposite, that is FD((md)) which will implie what the professor is saying.

At 10:25 shouldn't it be SSN, cName -->>major ? I am saying this because a candidate applies for a particular college on a fixed date. Since we can determine the date using SSN and cName (also depicted by the first FD) we don't need date to determine majors, i.e. it won't add any additional information which will help us to determine the majors, a candidate has applied for, in a college. Am I missing something ?

In that case, date will be part of the "rest". "SSN, cName -->> major" means we will get all possible combinations between major and rest, which includes all possible combinations between major and date. This is however not logical; why would a student apply to a major on all possible dates?

One more thing, instead of FD: SSN, cName --> date , can we write SSN, date --> cName since only one college can be applied to by a candidate on a single date ?
