ILLINOIS: A derecho impacted Iowa and Illinois on Monday evening and with it came severe wind gusts over 80 miles-per-hour, tornadoes, and flash flooding. One of these tornadoes was spawned near the town of Swedonia, Illinois as viewed from I-74 in Northwest Illinois. This trunk shaped tornado morphed into a rope before a new tornado formed directly over the interstate. Several other reported tornadoes occurred over much of Illinois and into Indiana during the evening hours.
