This kid's idea about removing the heat shield over the exhaust manifold was spot on correct. Bless you Kid!! You do NOT have to drain the water or remove the fans. Don't forget the L bracket on the back of the alt that affixes it to the engine block. Once the bracket is detached from the block, detach it from the alt so the alt comes out easier. Also, there is a clip you need to squeeze behind the alt and then it will come free from of the alt. I removed the AC connector too. Label each bolt, take photos of everything, and write down the sequence so you don't forget how to reassemble. To remove the serpentine belt, I attached a 14mm box wrench to the tensioner and used two bungee cords to pull on the box wrench, counter clockwise. I ordered another 14mm socket and plan to weld it to a long bar and fashion my own tensioner. Once again, thanks young fellow for the heat shield idea.

I'm watching your video because of the exact thing you mentioned about ripping off the cable underneath the alternator! That's exactly what I did! That goes to the crank position sensor, and now I have to undo the clip; if I can get access to it & repin the wires. Then, reinstall it before I can install the new alternator! I'm crying.😢

turn steering all the way to right take plastic shield off, bottom , the belt tensioner and bottom alt bolt are easier from the bottom. take shield off exhaust manifold, very easy to get off. take air intake off and radiator top support off, can push radiator forward and squeeze alt between right rad fan and exhaust manifold, tight coming out, new alternator slides in easier than coming out, gravity helps. avalon xl xls have 100amp limited models 130amp on the 2008. got a replacement at the local junk yard for $40 with a 90 day warranty off a 2008 lexus es350, all the es350 models show to have the 130 amp on 2008 year

I did my alternater 07 avalon put belt back turn over engine it ripped, put a new belt now its loose what you think happen?
@michaeljeffcoat9096 Жыл бұрын
My guess would be incorrect routing of the new belt. The routing is crazy confusing most times.

Of course, he didn't show taking it out that way, did you?

Ladies if I can do it, you can too 😏 I took the tire off so I could get the tension pully off easier. I'm not mechanically trained and only ever changed my oil! Save yourself hundreds of dollars and do it yourself 😁

Why did you slip tie that opened in wrench for the tensioner

Not sure it matters 9 months later but he did it to make it easier to reinstall the belt after the new alternator was in
