Learn how to diagnose a bad alternator. diagnosing alternator problems can sometimes be challenging. Modern alternators have decoupler pulleys.
In my case, i have a bad decoupler pulley and Replace a decoupler pulley is also easy, you just need a special tool kit for it. Because my alternator has high mileage, i decided to go with a lightly used one. I tried to cover most things on how to tell if an alternator is bad,
so hopefully this video will be helpfull specially if you replacing an alternator in a toyota camry, aurion, avensis, kluger, highlander, avalon, sienna or a lexus is350, es350, gs350 and rx350 with a 2gr-fe 3.5 v6 engine. So this is what to do if the battery light comes on

did the same yesterday for the 3rd time ...each time the alt is covered by warranty but not the labour ...this time it had also killed the batt and the plastic neck on the rad was deteriorated to the point of replacement so all in all a $500 job without the price of the alt

You can get the alternator out without dropping the coolant. Remove the radiator support panel and you can get the fans back far enough to allow removal. Also remove the bolts from the CAT shroud and move it to access the rear alternator mounting bolt more easily.

Yet another reason to buy a rear wheel drive car. My V6 Mustang is super easy to work on because the engine is not sideways, and the engine compartment was designed for a V8. It's got lots of room to work. Yikes! I may have to do this repair for a friend tomorrow. Thanks for the video. Lots of good info.

Great video. Damn thats a lot of work to change this part. At 165K I am surprised this needs doing on my Aurio. The water pump fell to pieces at 120K and Ive just replaced all the dampers and lots of bushes, so I gotta do this job now :|

Great video, I noticed you mentioned that 13.5 volts was correct charging for alternator in your video. Is that correct as I always went off the rule 13.8 volts to 14.2 volts and my aurion is charging at 13.5 to 13.4 volts with a new battery. Any advice well be much appreciated.

$700+ for a alternator. fuark. i just got my orion for $5k with 165k kms, its needs a steering aligiment and now after 200kms i heard this odd wiggle that everyone says is the alternator pully. ouch. costly indeed.
