At 23:28 how does the y component become 1 in the complex number z=-1+i ?
@SkanCityAcademy_SirJohn10 ай бұрын
Because the coefficient of i is 1 Example is you have z = -1+2i, it means the y component is 2

pls when you are finding the angle, you don't bring the signs. And the angle that you get too will not be the same as when you bring the sign so i wanna know that is it necessary to bring signs or not.

Okay, but I don't really get you. Which signs are you talking about?
@ThennisThennis10 ай бұрын
I'm talking about the negative sign
@SkanCityAcademy_SirJohn10 ай бұрын
@ThennisThennis there are two ways in solving this, if you want to bring the sign, there is a way of solving it, if you dont want to bring it too, there is a way, but then if you follow my approach, you shoulf get the same complex value answer. If you do it well and you answer is not in, its not an issue, the examiner can choose to take the bearing in the clockwise direction, when that happens you will not see your answer there. It doesn't mean you are wrong. Just punch your answer on the calculator, and write it down, and punch the rest of the possible answers, one of them will be same as your answer, then you select that one

@Dagbui yes, we can prove that, but it's not very necessary to us. So basically we are just using it to get our results. That is the exponential approach. You can equally use the polar form approach to arrive at the same answer. That is in 07b.
