Was in Autozone for some other stuff, realized it was probably time to change mine, figured I'd ask about getting one. All that came up for cabin air filters in their system was a K&N high performance air filter. I'd never heard of a high performance cabin air filter. The guy behind the counter paused, realized they didn't have any cabin air filters, and was then at a loss of what to do next. This explains his confusion, lol

Spray Lysol through the intake (outside truck below windshield) have truck running, have ac running but NOT recirculating. Spray Lysol through vents (outside of truck) have windows rolled down so stuff can escape. You more than likely have bacteria living in the vents. (Very common) easy fix. Won’t harm Truck/car.

example of what happened to me and maybe it works for you I did not notice that my battery was already throwing acid and that made it give off a smell like a pipe that entered through the ones that traveled through the ventilation ducts and entered the wing cabin change the battery apply lysol outside and inside the ventilation and fixed issue

leaf bits and dirt can get into the air passages, and you can get mold in there. The only way to stop it is to take everything apart and wipe it down. Been there, done that. It's a royal pain. You can pressurize hot air through the vents to dry everything out, but the first time it rains, you're back where you started. Or just buy a different vehicle which doesn't have that problem. He says '16 and up have cabin air filters. If you have a lung condition or someone in your family (or girlfriend, maybe) does, might be time to move to a different vehicle. Otherwise, if it's just the scent, hang up a little tree air freshener in front of one of the vents, and forget about it!
