I've been an auto mechanic for over 20 years. Many of the problems I see daily could have easily been avoided by simply following the vehicles maintenance schedule. I use a program on my computer called Automotive Wolf car care software to keep track of all the maintenance for my 3 cars, a truck and even a generator. It automatically can send you text message reminders when any type of service is due. Two of my vehicles have over 200,000 miles and have never needed any repairs. Want to save money? Follow your maintenance schedule!

I totally agree with you about the F-150’s. I still drive my 2011F-150. All I’ve changed was the breaks, one rotter, tires, and air pressure valve. And I’ve drove coast to coast with no issues at all. When ever this truck dies, I’ll get me another one just like it. Go Ford. 🤗

We bought a car listed 5,600 for 4K from a dealer . I kept pointing out all the repair costs the car needed and I’d have to probably pay them a lot to fix it. The sales man kept knocking off the price until 4100. I said go to 4K and I’ll take it. They did and I did all the repairs myself saving thousands. I had 500 into it . Then the wife got hit and it was totaled. The insurance agent kept asking me if it had all these options right down to the paint; yep it was a California edition and the book was 10,500 so we more than doubled our money, but we were out a fabulous car that we could not replace for the money .

Recommendation is go with the 2011 or higher with 5.0 motor. 5.0 is bulletproof motor versus 5.4 has it flaws
@samuelragland61054 жыл бұрын
5.0 is a better motor than the 5.4 and I've heard all the horror stories as soon as I say mine has a 5.4 plus time working in an auto shop when the Triton first came out. That was a nightmare. 8hr labor estimates from alldata and customers dont want to hear that about normally simple stuff. They ain't that bad though once you figure them out... except the spark plugs... those suck.
@patoroyal4 жыл бұрын
I have one 5.4 with 240,000 miles on it and another with 189,000. One is a 2009 F-150 and the other is a 2010 F-150, seems like they are good motors to me. or maybe I got lucky. I always heard that the problem was with pre 2008 models.
@redbull86614 жыл бұрын
@@patoroyal I've got a 2008 with a 190,000. No problems, put plugs in at a 100,000 miles and they all turned out no problem and I change the oil every 3,000 miles and run motorcraft filters. Which I guess they tell me is important because of the anti flow back and bypass valve being on the threaded end of the filter. So in my opinion most of the problems with 5.4's is probably the owners and not the motors. lol

@ManuelGarcia-ww7gj4 жыл бұрын
@@cleancar8553 You must take care of them. Be quick to change the oil, should an oil seal of any kind leak , you must correct that almost immediately. The other thing about the Titan is that is a gas hog. Also, like all other Nissan products, you must make certain to keep the battery at full charge seven days a week twenty-four hours a day. One of them can usually sit still for three days, four if you feel lucky, but leaving them to sit idle for as long as five days straight will almost always cause the built-in and insurmountable digital do-do in them to drain its battery down below the strength necessary to start the engine. I highly recommend that you keep a trickle charger hooked up the battery in both the Titan and the Tundra. The Tundra, by the way. has its starter installed beneath the intake manifold. All of the Nissans but one two types of them have knock sensors installed beneath their intake manifolds. Which guarantees that if you buy a Nissan, you will sooner or later have to spend something around $1100 to replace a $10 part. If you want something that is fairly dependable, durable and fairly economical there is nothing like a four cylinder Ford Ranger with a five-speed manual transmission. The ranger five-speed manual is an excellent transmission and will not give you any trouble to speak of under 200,000 miles. If you need to tow something heavy, consider a second hand F-250 with a diesel engine. Should want an ordinary pick, I suggest that you consider a Tundra or one of the gasoline powered F series Fords. They are the single most reliable of all American made pickups.

Ford makes decent trucks. I'm still driving my 2002 4.6L V8 Explorer XLT. Outside of normal wear and tear (tires, batteries, brakes, oil, filters) all it ever needed was a pair of front ball joints and a couple of ignition coils. Interesting, coming across this today, as I just got a letter in the mail from my local Ford dealer, stating they want to buy my 2016 F150 XLT 4X4, and offering different incentives...'but' I've very happy with my truck, as I bought it preowned, got all records from brand new, has the 3.5 Ecoboost which has always ran perfect even with the 137,000 miles on it, and is getting great mileage. Nonetheless, I can see why these F150's hold their value, and are wanted by many, as they're very comfortable to drive, and have a nice host of amenities, with Navigation, CarPlay and as with many, lots of safety devices.

@@steevegmtech7326 I'm love the 5.4 when it's a 2 valve. I put over 330K on a 2004 Expedition with zero issues aside from a ignition coil. As for the 3 valve? Regardless of year, I hear almost every 5.4 3 valve with the tick of doom. It would be easier to count the 3 Valves that I've heard without the tick of doom. I'd happily deal with the two peace plugs, and I'd even tolerate the chain guides going out with higher millage, but those VCT Phasers completely turn me away from every 3 valve 5.4 V8. Most on the road were not maintained perfectly, and even if it's quiet at time of purchase the odds are that it's been neglected and will start ticking in no time.
