08-2011 ford focus ignition switch fixed for under 20$

now when i say "fixed" i mean good enough for this shitbox. but honestly I've done this before to another vehicle and drove it for years with zero issues. this will work on any vehicle just have to know what wires do what..

South Side Auto YOU ARE THE GREATEST!!!! I fixed my sister's car in 15 minutes! I can't believe I fixed it myself being a woman, but then again. When I was growing up all my family came to our house to fix their cars,-trucks etc. Because We had big maple and walnut trees and big branches for pulling engines with a cumalong. And When I was married my husband built hot rods and motorcylces. So having so much actual knowledge about vehicles, I decided to try your video and guess what!!!??? I, me the lady of the house fixed the ignition on a 08' Ford Focus, by using your video cost??? 15 minutes of my time and some plummers tape. Great video DIY Trent!!!. instead of $115.00, I had the tape in the tool box LOL Thanks again

I did a more ghetto fix on an old VW golf, just had 2 wires hanging from my steering column that I pressed together to start it. I have an 08 focus with a failing ignition switch right now, but instead of a push button hanging from the dash I got a new ignition switch from rockauto for $24 shipped. Might have been a few bucks more than yours, but I can't complain too much about that.

I dont remember off the top of my head its in the videos because i messed up and used the wrong wire the first time. But its easy and i mean if your car is nice id fix it right this one was a rust bucket

What would happen if you hit the switch and forgot to put the key inside? Would there be some sort of anti theft system activated and permanently lock you out?

No sir. If the key is off it will not crank.. i tested it.. if the car was still here id show it in a video..

Why splice. Just back feed into the backside of the wiring.

What about if you do not have the key ? How you would start the car ?

I know with older chevys you could get the resistance from the key and solder in a resistor.. im sure its still the same

What were the two colors of the wires you spliced

I dont have the car but if you go to a remote start website ill try and find it they give u the wires

Its the Middle one with +12V and the bottom one from the pin connector
