Pat Phoenix wore mostly her own wardrobe as there's no way Elsie could dress so nicely on her wages over the years.

Why is it that every cliffhanger episode we have, the next one is missing. It happens every time.

And he also lent money to the Ogdens to go Australia when Irma was hurt in the crash that killed David Barlow. In return Irma went out with him when she returned in some sort of escort repayment.

Knickers were for Sundays - even then for some it was a case of fur coat and no knickers

@@williamf4544 That's too funny. I had never heard that saying before, "All fur coat and no knickers" until you mentioned it in your reply yesterday. So this afternoon I watched 2 episodes of Not on Your Nellie and 2 of Nearest and Dearest and I heard that saying at least 3 times in less than 12 hours after I read it from your reply! Too funny... So seriously didn't parents put diapers or underpants on their very young children way back in the day? Maybe she was potty training at the time and that's how they used to potty train kids? Or could it be that in the previous episode the child had an accident? I suppose I'll never know because the previous episode isn't available, mores the shame. So then were you just joking about no knickers until Suday then?

@@SUPER_WOLFMOON Yes a little joke - it made me think of a book a Scottish lady called Molly Wear wrote called Shoes were for Sunday - but that was true - she grew up in a poor area of Glasgow and most of the kids only had one pair of shoes which they were only allowed to wear on Sundays to Sunday school - the rest of the time they went bare footed - having said that if they didnt wear shoes who knows what was going on in the underpant department - i love Hilda Baker - some good catch phrases - dont be recedoudlous , you big girls blouse , ive been stood standing here , its quarter past oh i must get a little hand put on this watch - the list is endless

That baby is a toddler, Peter and Susan were born about 1965, they were around 2/3 in this episode so would have been potty trained. The child actress is wearing underwear. It's a black and white copy but the child would have been in appropriate underwear with no need for nappies (diapers) at that age.
