I use to go there in the late 60's camping at the state park. There were no houses on the beach only massive dunes with 1 road on the island. We use to pick oysters next to the causeway. I bet the beds are polluted these days.

I live about 20 miles from Dauphin Island. Only tourist evacuate for a cat 2 storm 😂. Unless it's cat 4 or higher, nothing to worry about.

Was just reading the article. On the west end of the island hurricane Katrina damaged or destroyed 450 of 500 homes taking some homes that had sit on 15 ft pylons.

@@wtxrailfan Nope, not trolling. Just laughing at all the people who go way overboard with a cat 2 storm. Katrina did damage a lot of homes on the west end of Dauphin Island. But it didn't destroy many. Most of the damage was shingles or some broken windows. It did cut a big channel into part of the island. It also covered most of the main road for miles... The roads were cleared fairly fast.

@Michele In Victoria, New South Wales, they are the hot spots, cases are under 50 or so could be more not sure it changes everyday but everywhere else like Queensland,Western Australia,Nothern Territory,South Australia,Tasmania we are all good not out of the woods but are living a normal life if you can call it that, Victoria is on stage 4, that is total lockdown have to do it and Australians do rise when asked, a few dodgy ones are not happy but , it is what it is, we have closed our borders to Victoria and NSW, l live in Queensland its all safe up here very happy with that, everything is normal here a few stray cases but its good our premier has really knocked it on its head,other states not happy, but heh! get over it already, couldn't live in a more happier place, no communist marxists anywhere to be seen, if they are here they must be sunbaking on our lovely beaches,Trump is a slime ball and a wanker...........no one is being jailed either.......
