So my silverado has an LQ4, $2700 4L60E (as bad as Pheonix Trans in Weatherford, Tx could make it) with 3.2k stall, and 3.90 gears with TruTrac diff and has had a busted windshield since the day I brought it home! Rock chip spread across the entire windshield the very afternoon I brought it home from the dealership... It's all about priorities! I don't even notice it anymore, been there for years.

Turbo diesels are fairly cheap and easy to "unlock" their potential. Simply adding an intake, exhaust, and a generic tune to a turbo diesel can get you some serious performance(or towing in my case) gains. Manufacturers are infamous for dogging down the engines...for safety and longevity. Simply put, engines are just air pumps. the more air you can put through them, the better.

You need a stall converter for that cammed 5.3L V8. Do that and switch out your pistons with flat top pistons and you will be good to go. These 5.3's do like 4:10 and 4:56 gears but you would definitely need to swap out the transmission.

Diesels are very easy to make fast. You can buy a tune that can add 200 hp to your truck for about $300 to $500. Then just add you a straight pipe and you can beat any gas truck. Also the 6.4 if you do those mods can run 13s in the 1/4 mile for less than $800

I don't know much about diesel, i just know that the combustion chamber is in the piston instead of inside the cylinder head. When you delete DPF & EGR and put a 4" straight pipe with it and cold air intake, it will become an animal. Why? I don't know.

It's because most diesels have very restrictive intakes and exhausts, as well as very conservative tunes. With such a big turbo and a large motor that can easily spool the turbo, increasing airflow can really let the turbo build lots of boost and make huge power. Oh, and FYI: the combustion chamber is still in the same place as a gasoline engine. The difference is that diesels have very high compression ratios and the compression of the air and fuel in the combustion chamber is what ignites the fuel rather than a spark plug.

Bryson sadly you are incorrect, my 08 F350 with exhaust intake head studs and H&S Tuner(On HOT) made 530HP and 1020lb/ft. Friends 09 3500 similar mods different tuner (unsure about head studs but it doesn't matter) makes no where near my numbers and is not nearly as quick.

is anyone really surprised? It's a gas vs a diesel. the gasser is on slicks and in the lightest form available vs an extended cab dually that is diesel. There's got to be a good 1000lbs or more difference. Gasser also has headers cam blah blah vs a diesel with a tuner.
