I have been prescribed cyclobenzaprine 7.5 mg for 3x daily, but I only use it on the days I go to physical therapy as my muscles spasm during my sessions preventing me from performing the exercises correctly. Sometimes even half of that pill is enough. I do not have problems with sleepiness(I wish I had that benefit as my crps keeps me up all night long, I sleep by 5am). I would prefer to take an over the counter one tho,I did not know that was an option. Thank you for educating me on this! This video under 7 minutes has given me so much info that my doctors have not shared with me! I have watched it many times and I'm taking notes =) LOVE, LOVE , LOVE this video! I do have many modalities ,but they have not worked to control the spasms. The modalities have I have do not work,so I know I need these and use them sparingly. My cyclobenzaprine has 1 odd side effect.....it makes me have tremors, but with tremors I can do physical therapy . I can't do my therapy with spasms and the intense charley horses and cramping. I also have the effect of feeling cold and shivering...again I do not mind as with CRPS I am always hot ,sweaty and have so much nerve pain. I do not drive and do not work at this time. I do not drink alcohol. Has anyone else experienced cold feeling, shivering, and hand tremors while taking cyclobenzaprine? I am NOT in therapy at this time ,I'm in a time frame where I need to await preapproval. So I will look into OTC ones for my spasms during this time. my spasms become very intense during a flare and I flare with the weather change ,such as tornadic wind events or lightning storms. I can deal with having spasms & pain all other times except for Physical therapy sessions and a flare. Thank you Dr. Furlan for this wonderful video!!! I have learned so much and I am sure this benefitted the Chronic Pain Community greatly!

Thankyou so much for this video, I had a sciatic flared up really bad last year April, the doctor prescribed Metycarbonol, Aleve 500mg, Tramadol and a whole bunch of others that I don't remember. But I did not take any of them, I was so scared of any damage to my heart or liver. So I got accupuncture, and massage and took reguler Tylenol. It helped a little but I still have this pain everyday. It's not as bad but its there especially when I get up on mornings. Is there anything natural I can take for pain on a daily basis? I feel so alone and sad because nobody understands they think I am complaining and wants to compare their pain to mine. I get up and do my work as usual but with pain.

Don’t advocate for the destruction of the disabled and incurable when this was their only relief. Think about that. It’s phrased wrong so people think it’s a good thing, but don’t tell people - if they don’t get well they don’t get relief either. Please.

I don't think she was. I think she simply said get off your ass and exercise before resorting to drugs as taking a psychologically destructive drug should be a last resort if *normal* methods of relaxation don't work. Can't be that safe if there are people who have harmful addictions because of it. I can assure you magnesium you find in spinach or taking a walk on the beach have far fewer damaging effects than taking a chemical that destroys signals in your brain to force submission.
