How does she sing like that. The purity of that last note, and how it KEEPS ON GOING. She is Elisabeth, I will fight anyone that says otherwise

Catalina H It’s just like when Patti LuPone played Evita. You could just FEEL her presence. It’s as if Pia is actually channeling the real Sisi and is possessed by her. She probably understands the Elisabeth better than the real Elisabeth understood herself.

emlodik I don't know if I would say that.. Sisi was a very complex character, but yes, Pia obv does try very much to understand the role she is playing, and I think that's why I love her Elisabeth the most

@@catalina6024 particularly in this production. Less so in her more recent performances in the role. For me, this performance is the best I've ever heard or seen the role done. And this last performance of the 2001-2 Essen production is the most solid overall. Everyone is really giving their all and there are no nasal belters!

@@IngenuousSoprano right? I didn't really like 2008 & 2017/2018, they seemed less authentic somehow. But Scheveningen & Essen are 😍
