2:27 Okay, THIS line would have so much more sense for newcomers who want to give previous entries a chance because it would have given them a better picture of what Avril was talking about. Not to mention, she's actually TALKING about the Usean Continental War and the Circum Pacific War clearly instead of being weirdly vague like in the final product. That must have been a bit of a headache for people to dig in and figure out what wars she was talking about before supplementary material cleared it up.

I like this version of the cutscene because avril has a lot less of an attitude and more just trying to tell the story of what happened. It's easier to listen to without shoving you into a bad opinion about her.

I honestly barely remember anything of the original cutscene, but just actually distinguishing the wars and clarifying when Avril's father died does a hell of a lot of good there!

Tbh most these lines sound a lot more clunky than in the final version, but that short recap from Avril at 2:27 is a lot less confusing than what we got.

I'm not sure why they didn't stick with this version. It explains a lot more, and is generally much more clear.

@@aguynamedlynx6397 But the result from the final cutscene, made some people confused about the story. I'd prefer the final cutscene for the News, but for the Avril, especially when telling stories about the Ulysses and Osea vs Yuktobania war, which is much clear than the final version

The small addition of saying "no civilian targets were hit" during the initial drone attack does a lot more for the story's credibility imo

That was in the final product too... cutscene clearly says the Erusean drones didn't damage any civilians.

@@AICW Wrong the whole erusea hit their targets cleanly doesn't hold up when you account for the ship building crews who would have been working on the carriers under construction would have been civilians and Avril's shoot down indirectly wrecks this too as it was the drones that lead to a misidentification of Avril's warbird as a drone by the OADF F-15C pilot resulting in the shoot down

I really like how this cutscene gives better clarification compared to the original. It makes me wish they could re-introduce the archive like in AC3 just so they can give better insight about the strangereal lore.

@@Knight6831It isn't a war crime though. Avril's F-104C was not registered nor an IFF transmitter. The OADF fighters had no way of knowing she was civilian, all the while they were shooting down Erusean craft in the airspace. It can't be a war crime because the pilots were not knowingly attacking a civilian aircraft.

All the extra Lore and information is nice, but I totally understand why they shrunk the cutscene down. If I wasn't a massive Ace Combat fan or Lore-Nerd, this would have been a serious pacing-issue.

A bit clearer for Avril's part, but it takes too long at times and goes here and there. Regardless, still would've skipped after the first time I heard it, never cared for Avril's story after knowing in the end it means absolutely nothing.

Her role is slightly more meaningful in the cut story. Georg killed Harling; Trigger saved Avril and Georg on Tyler Island. The "intel" provided by Avril in exchange for rescue is Georg's confession that he killed Harling.

Do we know when the cutscenes were made ? As it appears there is some cut contents, i believe they made them in the first place, anyway the development of the game seems to have been altered a bit. At least the flight UI have been redone. Anyway, superbe work as always.

These are all very interesting from game design standpoint but I don't think this is an improvement on the main story or character backstory. Making it more wordy doesn't make it better. Yes, the script they ended up with is pretty confusing and sometimes hard to follow. But this edit just drags for way too long.
