Mathematically they can still lose after catching the snitch. In book 4, this is demonstrated in the quidditch world cup. Apologies for fully nerding your comment section.

In Quidditch, the Snitch is worth 150 points. So if the opponent catches the snitch and you are leading by a margin greater than 150, you still win. Catching the snitch is the only way the game can end however, so it is possible to go up by an infinite number of points, and never win. Strategically, sometimes it makes sense for the "seeker" to purposefully not catch the snitch even after finding it in order to prolong the game to allow his or her team to close the points differential before capturing the snitch and ending the game. Love your channel Levy!! I really really do wish all the best for you

18:33 [Harry Potter Reference] When you catch the golden snitch, the match can finally "end", not "win". Win is decided by whoever has the most points. Golden snitch gives extra 150 points to the capturing team, but it doesn't necessarily secure their win. Depending on when the golden snitch is captured, a given match can end in under a minute or even run for months.

18:09 Tapping into my memory from more than 10 years ago. Catching the golden snitch is the one and only condition for the game to end. It can go on for months as long as nobody catches it. Upon catching the snitch, the seeker's team wins 150 points (only seekers are allowed to catch the snitch). That's usually enough to win the game but in theory it's totally possible to lose the game upon catching the snitch if the opposing team has a lead of over 150 points. In that case the obvious strategy is to prevent the opposing team's seeker from catching the snitch until you can turn the game around.

I discovered that in some benoni-like structures (like potentially even in this game), queenside castling can be effective as white. Obviously it depends on the specific position, but it's a nice idea to know nonetheless. Of course, even then, the king walk that black does makes any attempt at a kingside attack for white a lot harder to justify.

quidditch expert the golden snitch grants 150 points and ends the game each goal is 10 points so if you are actually up over 15 goals you can get the snitch and lose of course you would never do that unless you were attempting to stop the opposing team from crushing you from not grabbing it since if i recall the old ps2 world cup game correctly it's a round robin and the amount you score and thus win by is what is calculated for the overall standing even above win loss ratio so losing by 10 would be way better in the long run then losing by 310 for a full season there is even an in game achievement specifically for getting the snitch and still losing on purpose for lore reasons

@aboveaveragegaming550311 сағат бұрын
@@bozydarboski9407 a few issues with that is that the snitch does move slightly outside the main field of play for the majority of it's movement that the seekers can only seek in and you can gain multiple goals at once a max of 3 per play since there are 3 goals at each players end of the field and you can combo between players to shoot into each once per play a special move in the PS2 game also the other players besides the seeker must line back up after each goal/set of goals making this strategy effectively impossible or just plain awful since with no defense 6 or 7 plays to be above 150 is much smaller a window to work with then you might think

Scoring goals in Quidditch are worth 10 points each, capturing the golden snitch ends the match and is worth 150 points to the team that caught the snitch. Theoretically, a team could catch the golden snitch and still lose the match. Let’s say Gryffindor scores 16 goals with the Quaffle for 160 points, and then Ravenclaw who hasn’t scored any goals then catches the golden snitch, they end the game and earn 150 points but they still lose, 160-150 and Gryffindor wins.

The Golden Snitch is worth 150 points if caught, but the game immediately ends. Regular goals are worth 10 points. So one team could, in theory, be down by 140 points, catch the snitch, and win the game. However if the team that catches the snitch were down by 160 points, they would lose by 10 points. It just happens to be worth a lot of points, and the game can not end until it is caught, but then immediately ends once it is caught.
