Hey Levy, you’re probably not ever gonna see this, but I just wanna thank you for your effort and time that you put into teaching us, the viewers, chess. I appreciate every second of your video because, you don’t have any filter when you show up in your streams or videos, its just you showing your love for chess. And remember, you shouldn’t care about the haters, or trolls. I know they can be very discouraging, but as a representative of the people who love what you do, we are here to support you! So once again thanks a lot, you’ve been a huge help to me!

GM teaching IM would be so incredibly interesting. The closest I've seen to that is Danya's streamer lesson with Qiyu, which was insanely educational. Danya would probably be a good person to do such a lesson with, because he specifically does lessons with chess streamers. Please make it happen if you can!!

Really enjoyed this. I love your use of a variety of openings but also solid, fundamental openings (and playing two I use often). My favorite is the 10 min clock and your emphasis on narrating your thought process as you analyze the position each move. Keep it up and I’ll keep thumbs upping. This is John bartholomew level of useful and may even eclipse his rating ladder series in instructional quality.

Should just only play 3 minute games to drastically lower the chance of engine use. Then leave 5 minutes + games for over-the-board play..

Streamers need to stop assuming people are sniping or consulting engines. Even beginners can occasionally see lines or single best moves. My opinion about hanging a king is that the game should not end with a checkmate. The best end would be the capture of the king.

Yeah I agree if you don’t see a check the opponent should be allowed to capture ur king I do that all the time and it is embarrassing and frustrating their is some kind of pawn break and all a sudden I can’t figure out why I can’t move my pieces and a queen or bishop sits on the other side of the board checking me if you manage to sneak a check on someone that way and it occasionally happens to me you should win it is hella aggravating in the middle of the game though when ur randomly in check and wondering if ur opponent planned it because it hasn’t even occurred to you that a break in the pawn structure would cause an annoying check in the middle of the game because you didn’t slide you king one square further out of danger.

my step dad taught me how to play chess when I was 7, we would randomly play until I was about 11 stopped playing after that. I don't remember ever beating him. Randomly started playing again & i'm currently 1600. Call me self centered but I'm so happy I started again, this channel is partial thanks to that. excited to see how far i can push

A lower rated player taking a few seconds on an "obvious" move may well just have a good chess coach - taught that player to check all the lines even when they're sure! It's a good habit when you're learning.

ikr? So many "obvious" moves that look straightforward but are just straight up blunders against someone more tactic savy than yourself.

I agree with you that rushing to judgment is stupid regarding cheaters. A couple points for people to consider: 1. Part of being in the middle ratings is that your play tends to be inconsistent. You make some incredible moves, but then also make some stupid blunders. If your play was all blunders, you'd be low rated; if your play was all brilliant, you'd be high-rated. So yeah, everyone should expect at least SOME really good moves from the mid-ratings tier. It goes with that territory. 2. "He took 4 seconds on the only move!" Maybe he was scratching his nose or taking a sip of coffee. Or maybe, like me, he just wanted to be 100% before dropping the piece. Doesn't mean anything on its own.

Gotham, you're an angel. Thanks for preaching the word of chess. I'd like some directions about the concept of grabbing space, specially during the early and mid game. Sometimes you mention that pieces and/or pushing pawns help grabbing space and controlling, but how to play around comitting to certain spaces? Like, how do I play a safe, solid approach specially when it comes to attacking, to pushing forward, controlling more space by re-positioning pieces forward?
